Right now I have the standard BDS 6" lift on my truck, and overall I'm happy. The ride seems a little iffy as the truck bounces a lot and doesn't exactly handle bumps very well. The lift has blocks in the rear.

Would I benefit at all by adding a set of Bilstein 5100's, or should I keep the BDS stuff???

When I lived in 29 Palms California, i cooked my shocks in the desert to where their oil leaked out and they were rattling. Ride wasnt to bad even then. So I drove cross country to the great state of ohio. Ordered some pro comps shocks when I got some money saved up, installed them. Same ride in my opinion. Those coils up front are pretty stiff and its going to be bouncy. I do have the factory 16s and 34.7 tires. So all that rubber gives some cushion I'd imagine.

The bilsteins are superior; however, there probably won't be enough of a change to really make this a "value" choice for you. In other words, not enough a difference to say it was worth the money. If your current shocks are in good shape now, I'd say keep them. It is the heavy springs that make all the difference.

On edit-- Full Disclosure notice: I run Bilstein 5100's myself and am happy with them.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm just trying to find out why my truck drives sloppy. I know the ball joints are bad, and probably the u-joints. I get that low mph vibration where it almost feels like my cell is on vibrate between my legs lol. I think I will probably buy a Carli track bar, and DSS stabalizer in the future when I do the ball joints and u-joints too.

I don't have the lift you have but before I put the bilsteins on the rear it would kick out going over speed bumps and rough roads. When I installed the bilsteins it eliminated the problem.

I've heard and read alot off good things about BDS suspensions. As far as shocks, go with the bilsteins much better. I talked to several BDS dealers and they said BDS shocks are good, but not as good as bilsteins. Just something to think about.

I have the thuren track bar and defiant SS...both are excellent and really tightened up the front end...that being said, my upper ball joints went and i've got some slop / noises / junk....so they definately play a part...get all the basics fixed and go from there.

Ok looks like the question has been answered so im gonna hijack for a min.. hope no one minds.. its kinda related.. I was looking at the fabtech 4.5 kit for 03-07 that comes with dirt logic shocks and they are almost 2K.. the same kit without the dirt logics is like 900 bucks cheaper.. are the dirt logics worth it? The way i see it you could buy the cheaper kit and toss the fabtech base model shocks and buy some bilsteins and still come in under the 2K askin for the DL kit..

I have run bilstiens on every vehicle I have had for the last 15 years. I have not tried the BDS shocks but the 5100s on my Ram are great. Check your tires too
