What Muffler Do I Get?

I have a 2006 2500 4WD Ram. I'd like to get it a little more air and make it sound awesome. Deep but smooth. Im not sure whether I should get dual exhaust with Flowmaster tips or a 3.5" Fireball Exhaust Muffler. I just dont want to buy the wrong thing and hoping someone can give some advice.
Thanks

3.5" is a downgrade. You have 4" stock. I bought the MBRP replacement muffler and a 6" tip. It's got a really deep tone. You can also go with a muffler delete pipe. Probably the most cost effective way to go. How loud do you want it?

Loud?

Loud but not annoying- Just deep, smooth, and good enough to bring out the turbo. I love to hear the turbo whine against a cement rail!!

A muffler delete is a pipe that goes in place of the muffler basically deleting the muffler. The MBRP replacement muffler is a kit that replaces the stock muffler without replacing the factory 4" exhaust. I've heard the muffler deletes and they sound pretty good as long as the cat is in place. Without the cat I personally think they sound terrible. My exhaust sounds really good for my taste. It could be considered too loud for some.

When it comes to sound, the least restrictive will be louder, longer and larger the tip will help final tone(some will disagree) Mine is almost embarrasing loud straight out, but sounded like a ricer with just the cat. its all in finding as many different variations as you can until you find one that sounds like you like it. Look out for other CTD's, ask what they have, even if you hate the sound, that way you know what not to do. By the way, welcome, you will find darn near anything, everything, and sometimes more than you want on here. Others will chime in with their preference, good luck

I vote for one of the Donaldson/Nelson mufflers, either 40 or 51 inch. I had a Dynomax/Magnaflo straight through and the noise level and drone was rediculous.

MBRP is exactly what you are describing that you want! I pondered about this for months and went with the MBRP, and wouldnt look back! Great fit and finish for not a whole lot!

Me too, I got the 40" Nelson, $67 Cdn at my local cummins store.
4" in and out straight through, quiet at an idle, nice tone when you get into it, not obnoxious..
Pics in my gallery.

FisherGuy,

Where did you get the offset to compensate for the stock exhaust?

How restrictive is the cat itself compared to the stock muffler?
