Just when I thought it was safe to come out of the corner someone posts another oil thread.

I used homemade synthetic blended with emery grit #1,000 and I only change it every 100K miles cause I read a web site that says its okay. Then I add the used oil to my fuel so I can see if the filter works. I then take apart my old filter cause I can clean the fiter stuff inside and solder it back togeather and save $10.

Whoa...... Someone actually listened to me?

Now I feel bad!

Actually, I use Shell Rotella T 15w40 year round, change it every 5-7K, Stratpore filters.

Sorry man! It's been a rough week.

Hi I get my oil from cummins and it is Valvoline Premium Blue Synthetic 5W40, I find the price is reasonable. I also get my oil filters there as well Fleetguard Stratapore.
Hope that helps

Check out www.bobistheoilguy.com

Doesn't matter what you use as long as it's CI-4+...and a Fleetguard Statapore filter.

The folks over at bob's seem to like Delo or Delvac 1300 for dino. I used some Rotella T in my 04 HO, and it seemed to rev better (probably just in my head); stuff sure stinks. I'm going to go with Delo 15w/40 for 30K, then go to Schaeffer's 9000 synth 5w/40 (group 3, but it's inexpensive & shows excellent UOAs...so they say).

we run a fleet of 100+ trucks 10% have 1,000,000+ on delo oil changed every 30k mi.
so experience tells me go for delo

Mobil 1 truck and suv. Every 7500 miles or once a year. Whichever comes soonest. I was running Amsoil previously.

Mobil 1 Truck and Suv/Delvac 1. Changed this last time at 20,000 miles with great analysis results (I have a bypass system). I've run Delvac 1 in all three of my diesels and get great results.
