What the heck!!! A Dmax won the Diesel Power Challange East!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
D Wiggs what do you do to affored all of that work you have done on your truck? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Dan airing down the fronts for pulling is something any experienced puller does to a certain degree at any and every pull.
FYI the rears usually stay at full PSI or OVER full psi.
Some of you guys that "know" alot should get out a bit and sledpull against some of these known trucks (like Tomac) and see how you do...
Twin turbo's and Horsepower numbers are not everything...
Around these parts the single turbo trucks trounce the "twinned" trucks

I run 22 LBS in the front and 70LBs in the rear with my 1" travel blocked suspension. Hooked 21 times this past year and every time I pulled I changed a little different air combos and came to this as the best for me. Of course the track conditions dictate a litte also.
If you are saying that I think I "know" hardly anything about pulling then you dont "know" me
The "some of you guys" was not aimed at you. It was aimed at people that equate spending money on winning a truck pull. Money is always a factor but its not everything.
Get rid of that 1" suspension travel (unless the rules say you have to have it)
Go RAISED BLOCKED!!

I got a special set of solid blocks (positive 2") but usually cant use them because of the rules around here keep it at 1" of travel. There was even one pull that had 2" travel.
I do feel that the positive solid helps tremendously. Got a set of traction/ladder bars in the works now.
Tomac rocks.
Of course the Dmax got out front with CR technology because they had them a few years ahead of the Cummins. We are learning and the pendelum will, like it always does, swing back some.
Until the Cummins guys embrace CR technology and use it to their advantage the Tomacs of the world will keep on winning.
Dont discount the DMAX engine. It is formidable.
As power levels increase in the classes, Im of the opinion that failures will increase and once again, the Cummins will get some reliability kudos.

I think he means stuff like EFI live and all the Custom Tuners that are running around for the Duramax crowd.
But what do I know...us 12v can't make any power at all, we don't have any computers

signature600 your 1998 12vavle can build more dyno proven horsepower than any of our trucks... You can over fuel the heck out of it... Dwiggs what your saying about 6spd to auto is really unrealistic reving up to 7 or 8 grand to make up the diffrence... And there sure isnt anyway you can beat a auto truck with the same mods as you... imho..in a race or sledpulling..
I have no promlems tomac winning it in a dmax.. He knows a thing or two about his truck and has it figured out. Its not huge numbers its steady constant power through an even powerband..Not a spike of 700+horse that really doesnt do to much for you...

I am not saying you COULD/WOULD/SHOULD rev your engine to 7 or 8 grand. What I am saying is that IF you could, that would be the ONLY way to erase the difference between the auto and 6spd. Big difference between the hypothetical and the actual!
The puller states have been slow pick up CR with the Cummins and stay with the P pump. Some even convert their 3rd gens to P pumps.
8 "puts" of power to the crank VS. 6 "puts" of power to the crank with the same RPM can mean huge power gains as well.
It will come down to durability in the end, IMO only of course. The Cummins will have it in that dept.

Hopefully old Don M~ can help me unlock some of it one of these days
