What drop is everyone using for their trailer hitches?

As measured from the ground to the top of the receiver's ball mounting surface.

My boat trailer is level when the top of the receiver is 18 inches off the ground. But trailers vary a lot, and I'd like the option to tow different trailers without too much hassle. Let's hear what everyone else is using for receiver drop distances.

Thanks!

6 when hauled my tractor (heavy) 8" for my boat cause it's light and I like to keep the prop from dragging on the pavement (not that I have done that or anything)
Ski Boat, can't do much about the prop and rudder under there..........

I only use a 4" but it is a little high for our bumper pull trailers. Although it is the perfect height to find it with your knee

I use a 6" solid forged hitch with a 1.25" shank ball for hauling heavy, and I have a light duty 8" drop for lighter loads. Works great with 35" tires.

I've got a stock 3500, but my measurements show that I need a 4.5 inch drop to make my boat trailer level (underside of trailer coupler is 18 inches). This would also match the height of my wife's minivan and the Pathfinder I recently sold.

This is with my bed entirely unloaded. When you say 6-8 inches with no lift, that's a LOT lower than what I seem to need. What height is the underside of your trailer's coupler?

I've got a 5 1/4" with the 1" shank. By the time you throw a little firewood in the box it's juuuussst right.

4" for me, I dont want it to drag off road and if I need to put a ton or two in the bed its still high enough.

I'm running a 4.5" drop I believe it is (maybe a 5") and I've got a 4.5" lift with 35" tires and the little utility trailer I pull sits just about level. Maybe an inch to high but nothing big.

I use a B/W tow and stow hitch, you can adjust the drop distance. Also is has three ball sizes on it, very nice all around hitch.

I run a 6.5" while pulling my Mastercraft X-30, rides just about right. It has an inboard so there is a lot to screw up under there if the boats not level... Prop, Rudder, Driveshaft... The 'cage' that surrounds everything back there is about 4-5" off the ground when the trailer is level.

Interesting that the clevis maxes out at 7500 pounds, while the ball maxes out at 10K. I would have expected the clevis to have the higher rating.
