Went To Track

Went the the local 1/8th track and made 2 passes. 1st pass tried launching @ only 2-3psi and tires brokes loose, pedelled it all the way down 11.11 @72mph.

2nd pass just rolled into it and still lost traction. Before each gear change, got traction but as soon as it shifted lost it. 10.00 @ 80mph.

Next time I'll throw on some slicks and make sure I check my settings on the pod. Had the following; sw7, tq4, rp 0 (mp-8 60%), t 2.

It was fun though with the truck for being the 1st time running it. I did think I'd get better traction with the vht though. On the street, never felt the tires slip while playing.

Btw, tires are nitto's terragrap's.

Did you air down your tires first?

I have traction problems, too. I took a pair of street tires (265's) down to 30lbs, and still slipped at the line, but had traction down the track.

I basically went to the track to run my car, so being that I towed there I didn't really prep the truck properly. Next time out, I'll have an on board air comp./tank and beable to air back up the the rear tires.

It wasn't a planned deal on the truck, a group of us rented the track ( for racecars) and if someone protested on me running my truck, it wouldn't of happened anyway, but quite a few asked if I'd run it since they saw/heard about the twin turbos and other mods. I had. It was kinda warm out and the track was loose.

With your mods if you can hook it you should be in the 7s in the 1/8th. Of course 4wd would make that a lot easier. LOL

That's exactly what I was thinking by comparing to others', like you and your mods. I didn't think I'd have the serious traction issues that I had/have, the streets are better, at least I don't feel the skating like I did at the track. The 1st pass I went through the traps at 85mph according to the speedo, got my slip and read 72mph so the tires wire smoking through the traps hahaha.

I wish I bought a 4x4 at this point, but at the time I bought this truck, I really got it to tow with. I was on a mopar forum and saw this forum on the side ads. I discovered what I could do to a diesel through here. POWER city here I come!!!

With what I've done to this truck, I love the way it handles even at high speeds, it's like it's on rails. It just woke me up yesterday on the traction issues that I have. I'll find a way to get it to hook with help from here. I'll be buying slicks/wheels for starters and fabbing up trac. bars.

Slicks, traction bars and a lot of practice to find that optimum launch. Still be a great tow truck just a little time swapping tires at the track. You should have me by 50-75hp easy and maybe more, so with a 1.7s 60' you could be low, low 12s 1/4. Of course if you did that then you have to go for the 11s. LOL

Yeah, it's a never ending quest to go faster each time out. I was hoping for cool weather on yesterday's track time. According to a friends weather station, we were around 1800ft elevation. I was off with my car by almost half a tenth from my norm., well from what I usually run, but I did some small changes and should of run quicker if the weather was good. Talked to others and they were off too.

Shoot, I have a tunnel ram on the shelf waiting to be installed on the hemi (2- 1130 dominators tuned for my set up), I've been working on my truck too much.

One of my friends remembered when I bought my truck and stated what a diff. I had made. He liked it though.

330 ft 7.9
1/8 11.1 @ 81 mph
1/4 15.4 @ 116 mph
