Warranty
Within the next few months I plan to have my '06 lifted 8 inches with 38's...I am pretty sure this will void my warranty...will this only void specific parts of the warranty, or the entire thing?!? Any input is GREATLY appreciated!!!
Smart thing to do if you are worried about warranty, go to the dealership you would take your truck and talk to the service manager/ if they have a diesel tech talk to him as well. See what they say.
My dealership wouldn't warranty mine because of the lift and mods. Try a few dealerships and talk to the different service managers and see what they say. Some don't care what you do to, some will try to void your warranty for ANYTHING.
Most states have laws regarding mods and warranties. The laws pretty much say that whatever you have modified with other than OEM parts is what they can deny a warranty claim on. Makes sense since the OEM parts are not there, just the new ones you installed. They can also deny your warranty regarding something secondary that was caused by the aftermarket part. Like everyone says, they can just about deny anything they want, but if they deny something that truly has no bearing you do have a leg to stand on if you want to push it. Most dealers that are installing aftermarket stuff on a new vehicle have you sign a disclaimer regarding the aftermarket parts. That by itself has more legal bearing by DC to deny a warranty on something thatn any of their tech/dealer/reps opinions because you give them written grounds of your acceptance of the warranty being denied. Nice trick isn't it? Ranks right up there with the 'employee pricing' terms.
