vibration problem/questions
I have an 05 auto and noticed today that there is a vibration when I was on the highway. I don't notice the vibration driving around town, the only time I notice the vibration is when the torque converter locks up. It isn't very noticeable on flat ground, it is there just not very noticeable, but when you step on it a little or start to go up a hill there is a definite vibration. I used to have a power pup on the truck but it has been stock for a few months now. Could it be the tranny, or could it be a u-joint? The engine runs fine and there is no visible smoke unless I nail it so I don't theink it is that, knock on wood.Let me know your opinions.
Try putting a little weight in the bed. If the problem clears up then it could be the driveshaft angle. I had a slight vibration that I only started to notice once I got rid of my truck cap. The drive shaft angle was the culprit. TBS adressed that issue but I don't know that was still a problem on the 05. I used a 5/16 shim under carrier bearing housing. It was worse with the long beds. Do you notice anything taking off from a stop?
Nope, I didn't notice anything taking off from a stop. I only noticed it when the TC locks up, I was hoping it was just a u-joint going out. I have heard of some people having troubles with the u-joints. I was thinking when the TC locks up it is putting more stress to a bad u-joint therefore I was noticing the vibration. The truck has 33000 miles on it and I haven't noticed anything before today.
