Question 03 Tranny Problem - Noise/Vibration

Newbie asking for help!! I've been very impressed by the level of knowledge shown by the members of this forum and would appreciate any suggestions:

Have about 9K miles on 03 3500 (see signature block) and getting consistent noise (thrashing/rattling sound) and slight vibration when transmission under load (no noise when in neutral, or when push in on clutch when underway). Sound is loudest at about 1500 rpm or higher in 6th gear (not detectable in other gears, or at lower rpm). Feel a vibration to some extent thru shifter lever. The noise is really annoying when on the road for any length of time.

Took to local dealer and the Chrysler hot line had them check the drive shaft alignment, the backlash on the differential, and the central carrier bearing - they said all checked out. Next step is DC rep will drive next week.

Any suggestions on what's going on?

Thanks!

Update on recent tranny noise: DC rep checked it out, they tore down the tranny and found a bad rear bearing. Now waiting for parts. Since the truck has otherwise been really sweet, am looking forward to having it home - Hopefully early next week!

ps: They will also replace the clutch disc to avoid chatter (per a recent tech TSB?)

Thats good news. Good to hear some dealers have their act together. Seems that all we hear about are the horror stories.

Hope they got it.

Problem Apparently Solved!!

Dealer replaced the rear bearing in the 6 speed. The truck runs like new!

The dealer and DC were responsive and my only problem now is finding the time to get on the road
