Correct me if I am wrong but the Cummins CR has been in use in Europe long before 03 and since VA is over there wouldn't it stand to reason that VA has had more time to perfect a box for it?

For us this box is new but the development time behind it may be much longer than we know.

I am a candidate for the group buy too!!

I was assuming it was a pressure-only box, but it would be easy and reasonable to assume it could do timing too, being it interfaces with the ECM, which is icing on the cake IMO.

Ted thanks for emailing them, I am looking forward to their answer.

According to everything I've been able to get my mitts on about the HPCR system from Bosch, that 30,000 PSI pressure is max sustainable pressure of the entire system, including CP3 and injectors. In other words, a 3 or 4000 PSI increase over the stock DODGE parameters is not going to cause any significant longevity reduction in any part of the system. This very same CP3 and injector design is in use in much higher horsepower applications with higher rail pressures.

Early Dodge failures have been traced to a carbon fibre washer in use on the rails. These washers fell out of use with the 03.5's, and since that time, I haven't seen a single documented failure of any part of the injection system that could be attributed to rail pressure.

Group purchases are not allowed on this forum so you won't be able to start one here. Also the retail price for the VA box is under $400. That is a great price for a pressure box. There are many places that the box is available such as jannetty and piers.

Aren't group buys a good thing? I have never been involved in one before but sounds like a win/win deal. I have been contacted about doing so but don't want to burn bridges elsewhere somehow.

Battering Ram, I'm not actually trying to initiate a group purchase on my own. I was hoping Ted would see our interest and offer a discount to DTR buyers if we could meet a minimum limit or something of the sort. I've been to Ted's shop a few times when I lived in New York. He's always been really helpful. His employees took the time to show me some stuff when I was new to diesel. I understand $400 for a fuel box is fairly cheap. But if Ted was to get a group of us, say 20 or more, and offered a deal of free shipping, or a discount, or better yet a coupon to use at Jannetty for future purchases, he could almost garuantee return customers. I received a private message from someone I do not recognize about a discount on the VA box. I am weary about it since I have no prior knowledge of this guy. I'm sure he's legit but one can never tell now-a-days. I plan on buying from Ted anyway. I know him and his business and respect them very much. Not all of us out here are rich and when we can save a few bucks or get a deal on something we'll jump on it. That's how I got my exhaust brake and exhaust. This is also how I'm getting my Putco wheel to wheel nerf bars for my truck. I don't mind waiting a bit for a good deal. It could be a win/win situation for both the members of DTR and Jannetty Racing. I understand DTR takes no responsibility in what we purchase and from who. Ted is a very reputible business man. He isn't some back yard bozo who is promising us all a "great" deal and when he gets our money turns around a rips us off. I could see where the DTR forums would not want to allow such a group purchase to occur because someone would turn around and blame DTR for the problem. Ted is not that kind of guy. I had to return a faulty gauge to him in the past and he did it, no questions asked. I thought this could be a way for Ted to get his name out to all of us, make some money and try to give the DTR members a good deal, whatever that may be. Sorry about the long winded response.

Which forum is a group purchase allowed? I have not found any rules on this site regarding group purchases. Am I not looking in the right place?

Whoa... thats a pretty big responce to one sentence , espessially since I was just trying to post some factual information. I was not bad mouthing Jannetty or group purchases in general... I'm not even an administrator and I have no influence on how these forums are run. I have just been here a really long time and I was just informing some of the new guys (espessialy 3rd gen guys) that group buys are not allowed on this fourum or anywhere on this site. I'm not against guys getting good deals on stuff... if I was I would have a stock truck.

Yep these guys are right when they say NO group purchases run on DTR. The reason is, we have no control over the purchase process, if somebody doesn't get what he paid for, or is otherwise unhappy, the blame gets laid at our feet for allowing it to occur here at DTR.

Sorry guys, thats the rules, and until I am told the rules are changed, thats the way they will be enforced.

If one of our vendors wants to give a special discount to DTR members that is fine. He can post that he is offering a discount for DTR members, just PM him for details.

That works the same way, it just doesn't have us stuck into a "group purchase" situation.

Thanks guys for your consideration in this matter.

Lary

Here is an excerpt from the site rules everyone agrees to uphold when they sign up here.

"You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you and you show proof of ownership or you have consent from the owner of the copyrighted material and you can show proof of consent. Spam, flooding, advertisements, group buys, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also inappropriate on DieselTruckResource.Com."

You can read all the rules by going to our DTR privacy policy link at the bottom of the forum page.

Hope this helps to clear up the issue

Totally understandable, thanks Top and Horace for the heads up.

Ted Jannetty,

I am also very interested in the VA. Is there anyway to find out if they are going to have a new stronger box in the near future? They have had the current box out for some while...it seems like they have had plenty of time to work on a "new" one.

I would also be really interested in test/dyno results from a 305/555 and maybe a head to head with Edge EZ.

Thanks!
