have you or are you on the 8th trying a Van Aken box on the 600 yet? I'd be curious if it works with throwing codes. Thanks Shawn

we have not seen any of those as of yet. i can ask the tech when he gets here if it will be the same box or if they have to make a new one for that year

Is the VA C3 box adjustable on the fly?

Mikeyb,

yes it has a 3 position rotary switch that gets mounted in the driver's compartment

I haven't talked VA about this, but reading in between the lines, it seems the following MAY be true about the VA

1. no boost fooling so they probably can't claim the high numbers as the other pressure boxes. The wastegate is still mechanical (on the 305), and this may explain why they are only at 65 HP -- other boxes that allow higher boost pressures have an advantage. VA may provide the fueling, but not the boost. now then, I really don't know that they aren't doing ANY boost fooling -- just not in the traditional way. who knows, maybe they've figured out how to boost fool in the digital domain

2. Depending on what digital instructions they are intercepting and re-mapping, they might have better control over the way power comes in. Ramifier seems to have done a good job of that, just by reading actual boost, but the VA may be doing that in the digital domain anyway.

3. If their HP number is conservative and a true peak output HP gain at the rear wheels, it really isn't that far off from the other pressure boxes, most of which are in the 85 HP region when you sift through all the details. Ramifier is the one I haven't figured out yet--how it can make 100HP, but thats because I haven't yet studied the torque curves that are on their way...

4. The "best gain" torque of 200 ft. lbs, compared with the peak HP gain of 65 HP, is rather striking in that the other box mfgs are reporting higher HP numbers with the same "best gain" torque. this suggests to me that the power may come in earlier, but I'd REALLY like to see a torque curve!

The VA does fool boost... says so in the PDF download. It's under More Information.

more definition of terms coming up. traditional "boost fooling" is analog in nature and hooks up to the MAP sensor. as I said, they may be doing boost fooling in the digital domain. this one will be interesting to watch.

You guys are missing something-this box works just like an Edge EZ or anything else that plugs into sensors. That 60 pin ECU connector, guess where all those wires go? Right to all the sensors. Instead of plugging this box in between the MAP and rail pressure sensors at the sensors themselves it's done right at the ECM on that 60 pin connector.

No voodoo here at all.

Not missing anything here... The VA box maps fuel pressure curves directly to RPM and load, unlike the others.

Explain how that is different than an EZ?
