Valve cover project

Just got it back from powdercoating, wanted to see what you guys thought about it. I wish I could come up with something better for the breather, maybe I could get some input from some of you guys.

I have the same valve cover in my garage waiting for a rainy day to fit up. It does fit the CR engines.

the part numbers are:

Valve cover #3965133
6 Bolts #3959400

does it come with the breather goodies or do we have to fab something up? By the looks of this one, fab work is required? I want to do this as well. How much are they?

For the breather, I am running a cable through the dash so I can advance it down low and retard it on the top.... best of both worlds
I used valve cover p/n 3969481, bolts 3959400 x 6, gasket 3954324 and 3968202 for the fill cap. The Cummins breather that goes to this stlye cover vents into the back of the block, for a different application. I will post the line routing when I install it. I will have about 200$ in it by the time it is all done. There was a lot of grinding and sanding to get off all of the casting marks.

He was making fun of the "adjustability" in my breather. looks kinda like a old distributor... one of those deals. Too bad you live so far away...I have a Shuttle+2 .30 that I try and fly. Cummins needs to merge with O.S. and make a scale diesel.

Breather did not work

Well, I tried. The breather idea was a flop. It has to be something low profile 3/4 inch maybe 1" with the insulation cut out around it. Also, there is a spring between 4 & 5 cylinders that was sticking in the valve cover. It looked like it sat on a head bolt I think. It was getting dark and the kids broke the bulb in my drop light. In the a.m. I will see what I can figure out. I guess I will have to dig around on Quickserve picking random ISB serial numbers to find something, thats how I found the valve cover. Is there anyone else who has done this? Thanks for the replies!!

Glad to hear I was being dumb!!

I have not flown in a long time and decided to dig it out of the closet. Cleaned her up and charged the batteries, bought new fuel and now back to basics with hovering. Thunder Tiger set mine up at an air show in Boise. I assembled it and gave it to my buddy who flies FIA and had the manufacture to the initial flights and set up. I have an OS .32 in mine with a Weston pipe. runs good, just wished I had not taken 5 1/2 years off of flying. Kind of rusty.

Let us know what you find out. I have the parts guy at work doing a price search for the parts so I can do mine.

There was a guy on the TDR (Matt400) that made this work on his truck a few years ago and posted some pics. He plugged the breather hole in the back of the cover, and drilled/tapped a hole on the side of the cover for the breather. I will see if I can find the pictures... I think I have them saved somewhere.

I found a breather that works finally. Just put it on, but need a couple of rubber dipped clamps for the breather hose.
