valair on the way out
No I agree, but the story that I heard was that they had problems with the first run of productions on a G56. So Dan told the customer with the problem that he would buy him a different clutch so he didnt have to wait for the problem to be fixed as some things needed to be reengineered.
I agree that the clutch should have been perfect before it was ever allowed to enter the market, but it wasnt and Dan did what he could to make sure his customer had minimal downtime after their mistake. He even paid for the labor for south bend install.

Don't you think the rest of the people here that got stuck with that junk have a right to know they can get it replaced?
The clutch rattle if you have a single disk is most likely to be the stronger hub that is needed to take the torq.If you have a DD its most likely the floater it has to have clearance to keep from sticking this would happen when the clutch is in.You can hear it in big trucks when there at a stop light next to you.If you have a solid hub theres no damping affect and may chatter as well it.
The way I see it, if he will go that far to satisfy a customer to buy a clutch from the competition which costs more to make them happy, thats understandable in my book. He could have just issued a refund and been flush. Not only did he lose all profits from his sale, he lost 1k out of pocket.
Yeah, I know the deal you are talking about and he shouldnt have released the G56 clutch without more testing and quality control. At least he made things right and redesigned things.

You can sugar coat it any way you like, the simple reality is people have been receiving faulty products and they are replacing them with Southbend products.

Good thing we have these forums to let people know that they do not have to stand for inferior products
