Question Valair Or SouthBend????

the Valair is 2to3 hundred cheeper....Than the SB. what one do most of you have and what do you like about your HD clutch????

I will not go over 450Hp..i guess.(just programer+intake+pipe.) but wil tow 20+k lb.
My buddy got the ofe SB. and its a bit grabby and gets hot running from light to light with no trailor.then gets REALY graby...
Do any of you have this problem?

Do once and do it right. If 450 is your limit and you are honest with yourself and you KNOW that will be your limit, get an SBC OFE and be done.

I still think ValAir is unprooven to most of us....just go SB and let others be guinea pigs.

I have the Valair, have Dynoed at 421hp and pull trailers quite often, and I have put about 20K miles on my clutch, and no problems so far. It is a little grabby at times, but not so bad that it makes me have any trouble.

I see you have 06 6spd as of last week valair still doesn't have a 6sp conversion avaliable there waiting on flywheels to be machined. I know alot of guys running the valair on mildly modded trucks who are happy with it an bought it because of price. But for all out high hp racin an pullin southbend is proven to hold. If you go with sb an tow the ofe is what you want its alot easier an smoother towing than the fe.

I had a LUK clutch in my 05 and it was not very strong. I would get a southbend and do it right the first time. I learned my lesson, it had to be redone a time or 2. thats why I have thousands in my tranny now. dont want to do it again soon

I had a Valair in my previous truck. It held great, but it was kind of stiff, which is OK. But itt was so grabby my wife could never drive the truck again. People would way put it in 4-low when reversing with a trailer. That was hard being it was a 2x4. I bought a 3250 dual disc, sprung , Southbend. I just have not put it in yet because this truck has yet to make enough power to bother the stock clutch.

I put my valair in about 20k ago and no problems. Little grabby but it has never slipped and I have towed 10-15000k several times. This guinnea pig is pretty happy with the $250 in his pocket
