Upgrade Turbo/torque Converter

I Have A Dolled Up 04.5 And Have About 2000.00 Dlrs To Throw Into It. I Use My Rig To Tow My Toyhauler About 3 Times A Month Its A 34ft Sandpiper Sport Weighting In At 12k Fully Loaded. I Was Debating On Getting Either A New Turbo (dont Know Which) Or An Ats Torque Converter. Which Do You Think Would Make My Towing Experience More Enjoyable. OR SHOULD I LOOK INTO ANOTHER UPGRADE

The highest I've ever seen them were 1150, and that was pulling my trailer up the cajon pass in Ca 5% grade.

I am another vote for tranny upgrades. The turbo is optional. Tranny is not.

If you do the work yourself and haggle on price or don't mind a used turbo, then you can get both!!!! I had until very recently a perf. single disc Dunrite conv. with a simple shift kit. Worked great for daily driving and some racing, even at 500+hp. Only got rid of it for my Goerend, to go full billet and do locked shifts at the strip. Cost was right at $1000 excluding labor. A good used Turbo can be had for under a grand also.

If you want all new, and the best stuff. I also vote for tranny upgrdes.

OH shux, you people are scarin' me! I have an '06 , just purchased at the end of June, and I felt the trans shifted "weird"...but I attributed the "feel" to the fact I had never even RODE in a diesel truck of ANY make.BUT,I've heard stories 'bout Dodge diesel truck trannies. When I bought the truck,(for TOWING) ,I "assumed" Dodge wouldn't put a weak auto trans behind a "bad-***" Cummins engine. They wouldn't want ongoing warranty issues, would they? My truck is still stock, for now...was I that naive? Will I be having trans issues realitively soon.I use my truck with a 7x14 enclosed trailer with approx.3-4000 lbs about twice a month. Its mostly a play thing, not an everyday work hauler...as some people may "work" their trucks even harder?

Compmoto,
you shouldn't have a problem with those loads at all.

951truck,
you can get an 89% TC, VB, and a used turbo for 2000.00. Look in the classifieds here for the turbo.
