Upgrade Bully Dog Version

What do you all think about the most recent update on the bully dog? I have the version where I have the option for low end torque. Does the newest version still have that?

My brother uploaded it last week, and now the truck is in the shop. Trans is shot. 2nd gear slips. Trans oil smells burnt and metal in the pan. This after using the low end torque setting.

Do you know if the Bullydog controls the trans. Or just the engine?

Rob, how do you like the smarty over the BD? I am going to stack the TST on something, by I don't know if it will be BD or SMARTY.

I've been running the new version for a while, and I like it- I only turn on the low power option if I'm going to take it to the track.

mrschendel, did your brother try to run it on a stock tranny?

I got rid of the smarty and picked up the bullydog since the smarty was doing something weird with the line pressure on my Goerend valve body. I've loved the Bullydog so far, but I'm second guessing the switch now that Smarty is coming out with their new program!

I like the smarty for the fact that I have 9 different settings to choose from, and with all of the different software updates for the torque management you really have about 27 different settings to really fit your needs. I have mine updated with the Moderate torque management software and then set to #7 and I am getting great seat of the pants performance and my mpg went up to about 17 - 18 in town and 20 - 21 on the highway.

With my BD I get about 26 on the highway.

Now about these new smarty programs, what is coming out?

is that hand calculated or from the overhead? and do a search for beta and you will find the threads that the guys who have been testing the new software have been posting their results.

that is from the overhead, but with the bigger tires, I might be getting more.

Let me get this right. I can run 70 on the dash, but really be running 77mph GPS. However, the overhead is calculating backwards 10% instead of forwards 10%? is this possible?

check it your self. The overhead was off before you left the dealer with the truck. I have seen 21 mpg on the over head and get 380 mile on 27 gallons. Take into account your odometer will not be spot on either with the tire change.

Well then, I guess that could be very possible. I will try to figure out a way to check it.

go get your speedo recalibrated, go fill the truck up to the brim and drive it till its empty, refill it, take the total refill gallons and divide that into the total miles and that is your mileage.
