Ok, I deleted everything from my computer to see if I can start over tonight on a clean slate. I went to the link that Larry provided (basically what I was referring to last night but still got stuck). Im on page 9/22 and Im confused on what file from madselectronics to download.

Looking at the pictures, my 7zip says 7z464, the one in the picture says 7z442. Does that make a difference? I read ahead and what I meant to say before is that when I connected the smarty to the computer, it doesnt open up the 'new hardware found dialog'. I think it is the latter which means I installed it wrong. I tried to uninstall it per the directions on madselectronics but I cant find the file in my add/remove window

Yeap, It didn't see the Smarty USB driver. It may or may not have used the correct one. Re-download the Smarty USB driver and install it before hooking your smarty up to your computer. After all this, try it again if you haven't figured it out. Gotta love the plug-fix-play microsoft operating systems. Sometimes it is easy and other times it is a pain.

SmartyUSB.exe depending on which operating system you have you will need either the 5.07A or 5.07L. Plus you will need the smarty Revo tune and the
7zip program. Put all of this in a new directory on the C: drive where you can find it again. Name the directory Smarty. That way if it needs to find the driver you point it to this directory manually.

Well, did ya get it fixed up? The first time updating the Smarty can be fun but not too bad. Just a learning process.

O.K. Go to where you saved the Smarty files and double click on the Smarty USB. What operating system do you have? Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows ME?

So, the USB driver should be 5.07A.

Yeap, continue with the instructions from Top's link. All should be well.... Hopefully. I just plug my Smarty in and it didn't bring up the Smarty USB either. Good luck to ya.... Gotta go to bed. You should be good to go.

What software? Guessing Revo....There's a lot of settings available, start small and work your way up.....would think a good starting point would be default timing, tq mgmt 2, rp 2, wg = off.....and maybe power level 5....you need to be reasonable careful with a stock transmission...as smarty on the higher levels or more agressive settings (tq mgmt 4, rp 4)....can be very hard on a stock trans....
