Under bed spare fuel tank...

Anyone seen or know of any aftermarket under bed spare fuel tanks available for a Dodge 2500 that would fit into the spare tire location? I'd sure like to add a tank in this location and be able to fill through the bumper via a hinged license plate mechanism...

I was looking here at some various options for adding a fuel tank for you. But unfortunately, I don't see one (listed here) that is what you want. I see they make one for older Ford model trucks.

The only thing for Dodge trucks I see from Transfer Flow is a replacement tank that holds 56 gallons. Perhaps that could work for you. It probably doesn't add enough extra capacity to bother though.

Maybe somebody knows of another company that makes a tank to go where the spare goes. Good luck.

Hopefully somebody can help you out. But, this was the only other thing I could come up with..........again with only a tank replacement. This one for either 60 or 75 gallons for 3rd gens.

Never seen a tank that fit in the spare tire area and filled up like that on one of these trucks before. Sounds like a good idea though. Us shortbed QC guys have zero aftermarket options for replacement under the bed extra capacity fuel tanks. Only the longbeds and megas have enough room for the 56+ gallon tanks.

Heck at this point I'd be happy with a poly tank in the 25 gallon range as long as I could get one to fit and mount properly in the spare tire location and still allow me to fill through the rear bumper via an aftermarket hinged license plate mechanism. (I actually don't mind losing the spare, I actually ditched mine a long time ago... I found it's easier to carry spare air and a plug kit vs. dropping the spare and wrestling with all those lugs )

when i travel to Idaho, there are some places that "you buy now or get stuck in the middle of no where" and they gouge the you know what out of you. I like being able to fill up here ($3.13 a gallon) and be able to come home and not pay for fuel on the trip (avg $3.50 plus a gallon).

Look for a gas tank off a Ramcharger. Held 35 gal. and went in between the frame rails at the rear of the vehicle. Probably could buy a new one but might find one at a junk yard. May have to put some extra bracing in.
