I currently have the stock 265/75 spare residing under the bed. Looks like there is one inch of space to go larger. I'm thinking one of my worn 285s will fit under there, barely. Has anyone tried this?

Running a 285/75/16 Cooper MSR in the stock spare location right now. It fits well with enough room between my exhaust and the tire so I don't have any problems.

When you go to put it in, it takes a little maneuvering, but once it's up there it fits nice.

 

I also have a 285/75/16 in there. There is about 1/4" left on each side, so it does fit. It is not rubbing on anything, sits tight where it belongs.

 

I managed to get a 315/85 up between the rails takes a little work but even a 35" tire will stuff up in there.
