Maybe the smarty needs to find a little more grunt if it can't pin your head to the headrest.

i was loaned a smarty by a dtr advertiser(good man that he is) for a weekend. I loved it. it lead to wear on my tires, a grin on my face, depletion of the ozone layer, my gratitude, and destruction of my clutch(which i expected).

I had no problems associated with the smarty. other than the demise of my factory clutch, with oversized tires, aftermarket turbo, downloader and module stacked was expected. it installed smoothly, upgraded from the internet easily, and the directions were great.

i hope those that have had problems have discussed it with their supplier and given marco and bob the chance to help out before bashing.

i dont know of many dealers who will loan a $650+ electronic device just to try for the weekend and pay the shipping on their own. the only thing that was asked was to return it soon and please cause no damage to the unit. what kind of customer service is that? the kind that will have me calling in my order as soon as the clutch is done right.

the smarty is a great product, the 2 individuals that developed and sell it are always lurking here, ready to answer, recommend, encourage, and share. those 2 guys know who we are talking about.

Glad I waited and bought the Diablosport !!! Have updated it twice from the internet and still using a non slipping stock clutch on Extreme !! Reads and clears codes , real time monitoring of engine sensors plus a redline of 3650 and this thing is the cats meow for 6 speed drivers . Bottom line .......... do your homework and get what you want .... a whole slew of awesome products out there to choose from .

Yessir I made my concerns known with the Smarty....I was told to change softwares so i did. I still encountered problems of the truck taking off on its own 5, yes 5 times. That was dismissed as a fluke. It happened 3 times in 20 minutes one night. Thats not even safe. Granted, I have driven the smarty on a G56 and i loved it...but for me it wasn't right. Crazy larry was faster...plus the other problems i experienced turned me away.
oh yea....my buddy James Northum, a smarty and DTT dealer, will mail out Smartys for test runs....he's a great guy too

gimme your 2 cents as i'm wondering about this

I vote to get the Smarty. I am very happy with mine. Good strong power throughout the powerband. Easy to load, clear codes, adjust for tire size etc. Mine has improved my fuel mileage about 1 to 1.5 miles per gallon even with me playing with it a little bit.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, including 973604x4. But to my knowledge he is the only person on DTR that doesn't like the Smarty. There are several dozen others who think it is the best programmer out there.

If you posed your question with the "poll" format, I can guarantee you that you would see a majority of the members here would vote Smarty as no.1.

That is not a knock against any other programmer, module or whatever...there are plenty of great products on the market. But Smarty seems to be the best product for MOST members here.

I must say, at first I didn't like the smarty at all. My problem was the aggressive(IMO) TqMgmt and how it affected my tranny shifting. Since then, Marco has released new programming w/ different levels of TM, this is what turned my experience around. For the most part it has resolved my tranny shifting issues and I couldn't be happier w/ just one product. If I had to chose just one electronic power adder, it would be the SmartyCR. My second, BDDL Trip dog, and my third, YES I'LL SAY IT HERE, a Banks sixgun (not a DL though, sorry)
FYI-Superchips sux and has the worst tech support EVER!!!(call them for a good laugh) even worse than Banks

Talking Geeez,.. don't ya just love free speech

I've probably run as many if not more power adders than most guys and here is my $.02 on the ones I've run,... stick around,... Reader's Digest Version.

Diablo DL: Probably the most steetable DL on extreme. One weird thing,.. on my truck at wot if you let off the throttle it still maintains high speed for a few seconds b-4 throttling down. Manageable, but be careful.

BDDL & CLDL: BDDL is ok but the CLDL is much better. Very good power and MPG even over BDDL. Like the other more powerful DLers, ... it's a bit too throttle sensitive.

EZ & Juice w/att & Hot Juice: EZ is great as an add-on to almost anything. Juice & EZ is an outstanding stack if you don't want to upgrade your turbo. You'll still need tranny mods. Very smooth and good EGTS. Hot Juice,... more is better. Very good power and smooth. Like Juice, it stacks well especially with the ez.

PPE HOT: This is a very strong unit. It runs as well as anything I have had by itself. Will stack outstanding with the TST if you get user adj timing feature for your TST. Like CLDL,.. throttle sensitive. Also this is stronger than the CLDL.

SMARTY: Also very strong. It's right there with the PPE HOT for performance. Both give me great performance by themselves all the way through the rpm range. Some say down low power and no top end,... NOT! I guess you need more air or fuel because this thing pulls on top excellent on my truck.

TST: I have the multi-program R-49 (Includes standard, '05 twins and ,'03 wins. It also has user adj timing. The very newest version has an EZ-like fueling built right in and may be the Mecca of all units,... haven't ran that particular model. But the R-49 stacked with the PPE HOT or SMARTY plus the EZ is simply outstanding. It's like putting your life on Fast Forward.

Hope this will help some trying to make a decision. Just remember the success and positive or negative opinions expressed by members are a direct result of their impressions on their trucks and are heavily based on their personal upgrades that MUST accompany these units listed above.

Geez!!! OT-OF-HERE, you mind if I borrow one of those programmers you have for a little while? It seems like you have a whole room set aside for their storage. Good write-up!

Is the dialbo that strong on 03 6 speed HO truck.

I looked through my 4-wheel parts mag, and they list the triple dog crazy larry as 140HP and 205 TQ. Then they list the extreme power pup at 130HP and 250TQ, is that right?

I know the crazy larry doesn't give as much HP as on a 04.5 and above but does it fuel harder but only gives 10 more HP??

I have rode in TexasCTD's truck and very impressed on how smooth the SMARTY operates. Unlike my EZ which can be tough to drive around at low speeds due to the throttle sensitivity.
Now I'm patiently waiting for my SMARTY to arrive (thanks Lary!) so I can move the EZ to yeomans duty of supplying pressure when needed.

The thing you need to realize is everyone on here has their own opinion and their own expectations. The best thing to do is to figure out what you want the truck to do and find out which one gives you what is right for YOU!

Smarty fills the missing link

The best drive ability Ive found so far------
Smarty 307-303 on #1 = timing & Torque Management
EZ on #2
TST R 49 for duration Only (no timing) Standard program. Still dialing in settings
Great throttle response (No Smoke) unless you stab it hard.
