Question Twins, Twins, Twins............

Boy it sure is hard to make a twin turbo decision these days. So many kits, so variable in price, don't go to small, don't go to big. Buy these ones, don't buy those ones. Man am I lost!!!! So I'm gonna ask everyone here for their opinions. So here goes and sorry for the novel but this guy needs some help........

I'm ready for twins as far as mods so I'm looking for fast spool. I'm going to start out with my stock injectors and then later possibly go to a 90hp max. My converter is a bit tight so I need a good spooling set so I can't go huge and don't want to go full race style. I don't want to be a race monster like Kevin or Aaron. I still have to tow in the summer my 32' trailer. If I put on twins and can't tow, my wife will burn my truck and let me try to put it out with the one beer I'm drinking because I can't afford more beer because I bought twins........

Some say the BD700's are too small, the II New style kit with a PS62/S474 is too small, and so on. I don't want to go the Garett route because of all the cooling lines and very expensive. As you guys know, I like neat and clean so I don't want it to look like a jungle under my hood. I do greatly appreciate any advice. When it comes to $5000.00, I want to do this once.

The new style Industrial Injection twins are the best bang for the buck at $4200.00 for the entire kit with 2 new turbo's and it uses all the stock downpipe. The classic II Towing kit (62/K31) is $4900.00. The BD R700's are $4500.00 ATS kit is $5100.00 and purple but a nice looking set up. Do any of the classic twin kits use the stock downpipe? The new style looks to be the way to go but I still love the look of the classic twin style, what a hard decision to make. The only downfall of the new style II kit is that the intake pipe, S&B filter looks cheap and not very clean. What do you guys think? Thanks

I wouldn't steer away from the Garrett route, they aren't that expensive, really only a few bucks more than a PS62, and cheaper than an ED 63.

I would look at a GT3782R over a S475, fast spool, good flow, great towing, and fun playing. Cooling lines are a good thing, BTW!

If you really don't want the Garrett, do a 62/574 and don't look back.

For tow twins I would run a 62/65/12 over a S475. As for the S475 I would get the 1.10 AR for towing as well.

He is using a 1.32 T-6, but for towing I think the 1.10 is better.

I put the S475 under the stocker and love how it drives..
I do not tow much at all.. is really a daily driver and Home Depot vehicle for me. If nothing else it saves some $$ so maybe you can do something else to the truck.. Studs.. Injectors...

i have the 62/65/12 over s475, using an MPI kit. I do have the 1.32 AR. It spools fast with the 80hp nozzles I have. Towing and DD is great. Put down 600hp with poor tuning should be close to 650+ with a good tune

For what you want, and your mods, current and future, who says BD R700's are too small?

They are not the latest and greatest, but are a nice complete w/downpipe,airbox/filter/everything you need kit (I paid less than 4k).

These chargers spool very quick, and keep my truck's egt's in check no problem. Purchase what you want/like, but do not sell this kit short.

Hey Jess, do you know what the actual specs on the R700's are for both turbo's?

Super B Single is correct. My primary has a 71mm comp / 74mm turbine(if I can read my scribbles correctly), I do not know the housing size, and BD was reluctant to tell me....

What I do know is, I have a strong daily driver, that is a towing monster. (30 ft 5vr Ragen toybox, two quads, motorcycle, german shepard, firewood and half my household loaded by the time my wife is finished)

I don't need or desire anymore power, but after driving semi for a number of years over the road, I do require a tow vehicle that is close to flawless, I am pleased.

71/74 sounds like a large S300, and I thought the R700's was a S400.. but I am not certain. It could be a smaller S400.

I bet you are happy with them, they look like a nice kit. I have looked at the tow twins before.

Well, I'm going to tell you what, the tag says S400, the casting #'s on the compressor housing, looks like it says/said S380(ground off)....iirc.

The tow twins use a Super B Single(secondary) and a 66/71/14 for their primary, that was actually my first choice, after towing with a Silver62...*##*^&%, I was not wanting anymore lag.

Bryan@DPP was running the R700's at the time, and persuaded me to go the same, glad I did.

Tried to add a picture of when they were on my garage floor, no longer on my camera??? Here's a link to pictures, second post down:http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3r...installed.html

I have II tow twins, 62/80 over K31 and these have been a excellent set up, I have made almost 800 hp fuel alone, ran mid 12 second passes with an 8300 lbs and will pull with some pretty serious trucks. Plus I can still run down thr road, get 15-17 mpg empty and do anything with the truck. So I really think these have been a great all around set up.
