Twin Turbo Time

Not to Far off from pulling the Trigger on a Set of Twins, for my 05- Truck here. Was looking for the best set-up for me and my driving style.
My Truck is my Daily driver for work I use it for my Pest Control Business route,
I do Not Pull Anything or Carry any heavy weight.
My current 05- Goerend Full Billet Trans- AFE Stage-2--- Smarty Programmer
4-inch Silverline Turboback-- ARP-Head Studs-- Gauges Pyro & 60-LB Boost
Stock Fuel system currently Stock Injectors, I do have a Raptor-150 Lift Pump system.
I just want a Good Set for Fun Daily driving fast hard Spooling Least amount of Smoking frieght Train effect.
I will probably up-grade CP3 Down the Road to Dual's Along with some Mild injectors maybe Flux-2 or some 70--100 HP Max injectors or even 50-HP sticks I do not mind sacrificng some Power to make Less Smoke.
I like the Idea of the BD-700R Twins but to get the Real performance they speak up I will have to do the Fuel up-grades, wonder what the 700-R will do with just stock injectors and stock CP3, And What wil the BD Towing Twinns do with same set-up, And what will the BD Tow Twins Do with Fuel up-grades

utilize your stock turbo and do the stock/s400 set up from Nathan at MPI. It meets exactly what you described you are looking for.

When it comes to twins, my vote is for BD. I ran them both, the Tows and currentley the R-700's. I took the tow twins to 575hp with stock cp-3 and 50hp inj. I ran the R-700 with the 50's and now the 90's. If you ever decide to go bigge with power upgrades, then BD is the choice. Start with the tow twins and later if you need to go big you can upgrade to the R-700's. With mpi, you will need to change the stocker to go big later. The tows are great and with your current mods will be the best fit. You will love the spool and power. Like I said you out grow the tows you go to the R-700's. Good luck

Why would you say that? No where in his post did he give a power goal or any indication of more power down the road other than his short term plans. From what he shared, the stocker/s400 supports those mods. At point did you conclude that he would need to upgrade the stocker?

Ouch! You are 100% correct in this statement. It just came across very harsh? Are you having a bad night? Just messing with you! I would have to agree with a stocker over s400 setup. Everything he mentioned is a perfect match for that set.

Not a bad night. I just hate when people make assumptions. Nothing against DUKCALN personally. You could be my best friend in the world and if you make an assumption and then give advise on that assumption with nothing to back it with, I'm gonna call you out. Just the way I am.

LOL, all is good. I just thought I would ruffle some feathers! I agree with you. We all know what it means when you assume!

I Appreciate everyones feedback. Id Like to have a system that I would use All of the CP3 And then some.
I here the majority say if you Twin it , then Twin the cp3 ideally with two stock cp3's will provide the best reliable power across the board with a lessor amount of stree being placed upon a single modified pump, along with other negative quirks with modded singles such as surging issues.
Anyhow I am at that Cross roads of how far do I really want to take my Truck.
I rarely will ever take it to any Drags, maybe once for kicks,
I am more interested in the power being most potent on the bottom to Midrange as the Roads are tight and small here on the Big Island, so id like to have what ever system is the most responsive hard pull out of the gates will the BD Tow Twins Beat the 700-R Twin up to the 1/8th Mile Run
BD- Tow Twins VS MPI- Stocker / S400 Which one would take it here Bottom End and Top End, Coolest Running Syste And price difference

I am going to say the stocker/s400 will take it bottom end for sure. Cost wise, well I am guesiing the stocker setup will be a little bit cheaper.

The BD tow twins are somewhat faster off the line and bottom end wise. The stocker over s400 will support more HP. The stocker over s400 is less money because you have one less turbo to buy. The BD r700 twins spool very close to the same as the stocker over s400, (I wouldn't want to bet on the difference either way) but support more HP and cost more too.

Being familiar with the roads (and off roads) you would go, the BD tow twins, performance wise, would be the most suitable. However, it does limit you with HP but in your post you mentioned 100hp stix max, probably less; the tow twins will support the 100hp stix at max.

If money is not a concern, then BB twins such as my old ones I R&D'd last year, gives by far the biggest operating window. By that I mean they spool significantly faster than even the BD tow twins and support quite a bit more HP than than the stocker over s400. I dyno'd the 708rwhp in my sig with them. You can read an article about them in the September issue of TDR magazine if you can get one.

Hope that helps...

I have to disagree with you on this one. With Smarty and 100hp sticks, I don't think that the BD tows will keep things cool and that the drive pressure will be way too high. That's a truck in the 600+hp range and I don't think the BDs are a good fit. Now - leave the injectors out of the equation and I would say that they are a good fit.

Um lets see, he did mention he will go to twin cp3's and mild injectors, so with that statment, why would he do the stocker over the s-400. When he makes those changes he will out grow that stocker in any twin set up. My opinion....... As for the BD T ow twins i know alot who have pushed 650 or more with no issues. Depends on the truck and how its set up....... R-700's get my vote, again . And again I say the stocker will be out grown........

I say it is as I have personal experience with an 06 with DDP 100's and this particular truck tows a 14k 5th wheel with no cooling issues at all. A TST r49 AP was the power adder (FASS 150 and cp3 modded too). With TST on 5/4 and dynoing at mid-high 500's this truck has no egt issues... sure, you can stack with a smarty set everything on kill and be at and over 600hp, and be too hot, but no one ever said the tow twins were good for much over 575 really. And no one said that you had to run all your electronics on kill all the time either... I simply said that 100hp stix were probably max for those twins. There are those folks out there still, and there are a fair number of them, that believe in using no electronic power adders, but would rather stick to the mechanical way of doing it... i.e. that leaves you with just stix alone.
Now this gentleman has an 05 and therefore a little more advantage, what if he had a 235 SO like I do? Does your belief still apply? The bottom line is, regardless of how you get there powerwise, 575 is the practical ceiling for BD tow twins. He can have 100hp stix (he indicates probably less however) and keep electronics in the middle settings and be perfectly fine. His statement indicated that his emphasis was on low end to middle. That makes the BD tow twins a better choice, especially in his driving environment... something I can completely appreciate being familiar with those roads and the environmental folks there. Having said that, I would steer him away from 100hp stix too...

On edit... I forgot one thing; the BD tow twins have lower drive pressure than the stocker over s400. The issue for HP support on the tow twins is air from the lower turbo... the tow twins simply have less total air. The r700s use the same secondary as the Tow twins but add a s400 as a primary. The stocker over s400's limiting factor is the drive pressure due to the 9cm EH on the stock turbo, not from a lack of air. The EH on the tow twins secondary (a super B turbo) is 1/3 larger and thus easier on the DP due to a significant increase in exhaust flow ability.
