Question Turbo upgrades for towing

Hey guys Im looking on upgrading my truck a little more. I use my truck for work, which is Hot Shots. I tow a 9100lbs 40 foot PJ trailer and most of the time it has a load of 16000lbs. Im already working on my tranny, but I would like to know which turbo would work the best for what I do? Thanks.

Maybe like a 62/12 or 62/14 from II, or HTT.

My A2k is a great towing/street turbo - low egt and better spooling than stock. Craig

go with something like the II6280. i tow about 6k with mine and it is awsome. Lower egts and the power is good. If u have a an auto, this would be a turbo for u.

How about the twin set up from II? They list a towing and a racing system.

Where abouts do you live tuf? I probably would recommend a sps6280 or a silver62

For towing you are not looking for a quick spool, just a release of the back pressure. In other words, a bigger exhaust housing. I put a 21 on my 24v and it worked out good, lower egt and better pulling on a hard pull.

With just the 6 gun you will not have enough fuel to spool too much of a turbo let alone twins. If you want to tow with good results then the HTT 62/71/13 stainless would be a great choice. That's what I will be putting on here shortly. I just sent my HTB2 in for an upgrade. If you run that turbo though you will want more fuel in order to spool it and keep it spooled for good cooling.

What you have to figure out is if you are looking for efficiency in towing or just want to sqeeze as much power possible forgetting efficiency. For efficiency flow is the objective. With a waste gate turbo, once you reach the boost level the gate opens and you are wasting efficiency while you drive the turbo for nothing. You use a turbo that will provide the proper boost, not an over abundance, with no gate. This will be a little sluggish winding it up from a light. It is all where you want to go. The extra flow will cool well.

ok heres the deal for me. I have towed 16,000lb on my truck with this turbo(II 6280) and only had the EZ on 50hp. And this turbo spools a little slow, but ill tell ya, it keeps things cool from stop to hard on her with my other chip. I still have a little black, but all in all its good. 40psi and im movin like a train, and theres not much stoppin it. Ill tell u what, that poor Honda with all of the go fast parts didnt think he was so cool when a 1ton on 37" tires blew by him and he was trying to giver. This turbo made my truck into a whole new vehicle and much more enjoyable to drive.
