tst vs edge

wouldn't it be better to invest into an edge unit then a tst since going past 5-5 on a tst on a near stock CTD HO600 is useless. i do understand that for future use and upgrades the TST would rule over the edge, but for conventional use as far as towing a 10K lb trailer and good drivability with the family and once in a while gunning the big truck wouldn't the EDGE be the one to choose???

hit me on this one guys.. just want to know everyones' opinion.. going to buy a BOX, but can't decide yet!!!

If you've got an 04.5 or 05, another option for you to consider is SP Diesel's new Eliminator series box. Gives you more power then the Edge with infinite adjustability on the fly so you can tune it in to your towing situation. It also has a built in electronic boost controller that is also adjustable on the fly.

I'm not sure what TST rates there 5x5 position., but with the SP Eliminator I've seen as much as 110rwhp on mine on a dyno, but with the latest flash I'm sure its closer to the 130hp they advertise.

Raw power is great, but it needs to be driveable. I have the Juice w/Attitude and on level three empty with my foot in it, it revs so fast I can hardly keep up with the shifting. I would recommend the Juice w/Attitude because it is easily adjusted and very driveable in all the levels.

I am going to agree with Dorkweek. I just installed my Juice/Attitude today and love it. Very drivable but if you have a 6 sp you are going to be doing some fast shifting. Mine will hit the 3k mark in hearbeat now. Also the Attitude has several safety options that are nice. It will defuel on EGT's, over boost, and tranny slippage. That is what sold the deal for me. However if you want the MOST POWER go with the TST. Buddy of mine at work has one and it is AWESOME. However his truck is a beast to drive and he cant use over 5x5.
Just my $0.02

Only problem with the edge is that it wont kick in fully until your engine has reached the desired temperature. The old chips were'nt so picky.

What sort of mileage figures are you guys seeing with the edge. I was just reading in the XZilla box thread and a guy said he had something like 670 miles on3/4 of a tank of fuel. If the Edge got anywhere near that I would be really tempted to pick one up. The fact tha tit has safeties for your tranny , EGT,s etc is a big selling point. It seems with the addition of any box you are going to need gauges so why not get them built into the unit.
Any responses on the mileage issue would be appreciated.

re:mileage

If I drive the interstate at 55-57 mph, I could get 22mpg's on a calm day. Which is about 750 miles a tank. The only problem is that the speed limit on the interstate is 65 and I drive 72-74mph (basically the flow of traffic). I get 18-19mpg's at those speeds on the interstate. When I am on 2 lane highways driving 62-64mph, I can get 20 on a calm day. In town, I get 15-16mpg's.

I set my Juice on level 1 with low boost fuel on level 1 and drive highways all day long. This is just my opinion, but the Juice alone is not going to help much. It wasn't until I freed up the exhaust that the mileage improved.

Mileage is relative to so many things, that it is difficult to duplicate. I feel like if I am driving 100% for mileage, I am a nuisance to everyone around me. Slow accelerations, long slow downs to stop lights, driving below speed limits etc. I try and flow reasonably with traffic in town and on the highways.

And then there's the occasional bump to levels 3 and 4. The 1 sure way to absolutely kill your mileage.

I have the Juice/Attitude and it is probably the best option for an otherwise stock truck. You have more power than needed for anything except racing and sled pulling.

I can't seem to stay on Level 1/1 for long enough to see what mileage increase is possible, but on Level 1 it provides smooth quicker reponse and probably better mileage.

With air intake and high flow muffler I dyno'd Level 3=324HP, Level 4=342HP and Level 5=360HP. Not racing numbers, but plenty of usable power.

There seems to be a lot of options coming available from 4 or 5 different manufacturers. The timing and duration options seem to be much easier on the engine and control EGTs better. Just my opinion.
