tst r49?
tst r49?
i sold my juice /att. off my 05. what do you guys think about the tst r49 for a replacment? or would you buy something else? whant something i can really build on over time .any comments would be welcome thanx.
It will depend on how far out you intend to go. A good one to build on is the SMARTY. If you have warranty left it's real good as it is transparent to the dealer and can be pulled off the truck in 5 mins and it has many levels of performance and varous downloads depending on your supporting cast of mods.
For a plug in performance box there is nothing out now that has the options and flexibility of the latest TST R49. Provides more power standalone than any other box out there as far as I know. It is also the easiest box to stack with other pressure box or downloader. I have installed 6 different boxes on my truck and my recommendation is the TST R49 to start with.
For a downloader now there are 5 or six options, I have personally loaded and stacked ther BD Triple Dog and the Smarty. Both worked without any major problems. Smarty did a little better on my truck so that is what I run today.

I have owned MANY boxes, and the TST rocks
with all of the ajustabilities: HP/TQ/Cool Down/Timing/Rail Pressure/Economy/Standard/tt03/tt05 programs/boost defuel/EGT defuel/Rail Pressure gauge/boost gauge/EGT gauge/ ad to top it all off:
ADDS 200+ HP and 600 FT LBS of TQ on a STOCK truck, stock air filter, stock exhaust, stock injectors, stock turbo, only change was to the clutch as the stock clutch gave up at 800 Ft Lbs of Tq at the tires
An '03 HO made 265/475 stock at the wheels
An '03 HO made 467/1075 at the wheels with the TST and a clutch
I have had my TST R49AP for almost 2 months, and can not use all of the power until I get a clutch.
It also has the Economy setting, and when you set the Rail Pressure at level 9 on Economy, which defaults it to -9 setting, is strictly for fuel economy. It is kind of like Displacement on Demand on a Gasser. What it does is cut rail presure in half for better fuel economy.
It just has alot of features and adjustability other boxes/programmers do not have. I am a satisfied customer.
Now, I do hear they have crappy customer service, but I can not vouch for that.
