Cool Tst Pmcr Installed

I JUST INSTALLED THE TST, AND I CAN SAY WOW!. I TOOK IT OUT AND MADE A COUPLE TEST RUNS BEFORE IT GOT DARK. I RAN THE 1/4 MILE A COUPLE 3 OR 4 TIMES RUNNING DIFFERENT SETTINGS, AND I THINK THE FASTEST I RAN WAS 95 MPH. ONCE YOU HIT OVERDRIVE THIS THING REALLY KICKS IN AND GOES.I DIDNT TIME IT SO I DONT KNOW THE TIMES, BUT I WAS SUPRIZED HOW WELL THE 48RE HELD UP THOUGH. I DIDN'T NOTICE ANY SLIPPAGE ON 8,4. I DONT KNOW IF THE PROGRAM IS THE SAME PROGRAM ON EARLIER TST BOXES OR NOT. IVE READ THAT THEY MAY HAVE CHANGED THE PROGRAM ON THE NEW BOXES, ALL I KNOW IT SUCKS YOU BACK IN THE SEAT AND LEAVES TWO LONG BLACK MARKS AT TAKE OFF. I DO WANT TO CHANGE THE AIR FILTER, AND REMOVE THE MUFFLER, BUT DONT KNOW WHICH FILTER TO GO WITH. I PLANED ON CUTTING A HOLE IN FACTORY BOX, AND GO WITH ANOTHER DROP IN FILTER. I REALLY DONT SEE DISHING OUT 300 BUCKS FOR AN AFE PRO GUARD, OR SOMETHINK LIKE IT. ANY SUGGESTION?

If you are running 8-4 with a stock automatic TRUST me YOU DONT HAVE the old program!
The new program isnt a bad thing it's just when you ran the old program then sent box in for reflash and it comes back with a whole different power curve its a little dissappointing.
But I am slowly getting used to new program and I am sure it is alot easier on parts and tires.

air filter

Ttexas25,

Look at the Airaid drop-in before you spring for the cold air intake kit or drill holes in your stock box. I did some research and decided I didn't want to spend the money on an intake. I read on this forum (or somewhere else?) once that 85% of the gains from an intake come just from having a better filter element. I quickly decided against a K&N, mostly based on others posts and after a little more research, found the Airaid. Seat of the pants, feels like quicker spool up and I can hear the turbo just a little bit better. Good luck with your TST pmcr - wish I trusted my right foot well enough to get one!

THIS IS MY FIRST DIESEL, AND THE FIRST TST BOX. HOW DID THE OTHER PROGRAM PERFORM COMPARED TO THE NEW. DID IT COME ON TO STRONG OR WHAT? AND DOES THE NEW PROGRAM PRODUCE THE HP AND TQ ADVERTISED? ANOTHER QUESTION I HAVE IS HOW MUCH SMOKE ARE PEOPLE GETTING WITH THESE BOXES? MINE ONLY SMOKES ON THE HIGHER SETTINGS 7, 8, OR 9.

I don't have one... but ave been looking at getting one. From what I've heard, the older programmed versions made the new ones feel like crap. Yes, the news ones are stilll good... but nowhere near the caliber of the old ones. The old version could only safely be run up to level 5 I think it was... and just to compare, you're runnin on level 9 now and I'm sure everything else is stock.

DO YOU HAVE A CHOICE OF WHICH PROGRAM TO GET? COULD I SEND IT BACK AND GET IT REFLASHED WITH THE OLD PROGRAM? OR SHOULD I SAY THE REAL DEAL

With the old program you had two choices:
1:SELF CONTROL or 2: Some very expensive engine mods. Twin turbos, tranny etc. or repairs... Blown turbo frags into motor takes out top end? etc
In your case with an auto trans. (it would eat it up)
I have a 3500 dually 5 speed and on old program 5-5 it came on so hard so quick it would break my duallies loose in 3rd gear and slip the tires in 4th just under accelleration, and plenty of black smoke from setting 4-2 on up
New program does not pack the low end punch of old program ( therfore easier on parts)
Besides you cant use 9-9 now what are you going to do if you had the old program that would limit you even more.

Does the TST read boost from the MAP sensor and is the cable for the remote long enough to reach the right hand side of the radio? Also, does anyone know the pyro probe size? Can I replace the X-monitor probe with the TST probe or will I have to redrill and tap? I've got the order screen up in the background, just need a couple of questions answered.

Thanks guys,

-Richard

Probably another foot or foot and half

Depending on where you mount TST box under hood, will decide how much cable you have. Mine is on top of fuse panel under hood and I still have plenty of length if you needed more you could mount TST box closer to firewall
