TST/EZ & BDDL/EZ Observations

So, I just traded in my Bullydog programmer for a TST in the quest for more power at the track. I hope/expect to dyno it soon so I can at least know what I'm playing with. I just wanted to take a minute to post my observations so far.

-Fuel Economy-
One thing I did notice immediately was the TST/EZ stack was more diesel pump friendly than the BDDL/EZ. I kept the BDDL on Extreme and the EZ on 2 or 3. Currently I drive the TST to what "feels" like what I'm used to (5-7/4), the fuel needle DEFINITELY moves to the left quicker with the TST/EZ. It also feels like I have to give it more throttle to go.

-Smoke on demand-
TST/EZ will not smoke ANYTHING like the BDDL/EZ, it could be my lack of trying, but I didn't really have to try all that much with the BDDL/EZ combo. Although I was a little bummed at first, I quickly realized that it isn't a totally bad thing, the fact that I'm using the fuel I'm pumping in there and not just throwing it away makes me feel like I'm running a more efficient machine. The truck can now use its resources optimally.

-Power-
BDDL/EZ had a great "pick up and go" attitude, touch the throttle, press it, roll into it, no matter how you applied pressure, you knew you can just GO "out da hole". Once rolling, it was good too, accelerated very well.

TST/EZ is acceptable in the "out da hole" category. It certainly doesn't feel the same as the BDDL/EZ but is still nice. Once rolling however things are different. As described above, the BDDL/EZ accelerates well, the TST/EZ PULLS very well, I can feel the truck actually pulling forward.

-Overall-
I am looking forward to growing with the TST, which is why I got it in the first place. I can feel there is room for improvement as I provide more fuel, air, etc to complement the TST. I have to say, the one thing I am a little disappointed in is the fuel efficiency category. Other than that...

The preceeding was a posting by RamirezH, it does not reflect the opinions of DTR or its members. Should the above post have any similarity to other trucks it is strictly coincidental.

You should have kept the BDDL and ran all 3 with the BDDL on tow and EZ on 2 or 3 and did you get the twins program with the TST or the standard program if not the twins program will get you the go out of the hole.

Had to get rid of the BDDL, that was the compromise to getting the more expensive TST. I am going to do the twins flash soon though.

That will fix you right up. The standard TST program that you have now doesn't start fueling until it sees 12 lbs of boost and is not fueling 100% until your somewhere over 20 lbs of boost. Essentially, what little bit of off-idle power you have now is all coming from the EZ. The TST twins program starts fueling at 4 lbs of boost and is fueling 100% by 12 lbs of boost. Stock turbo killer for sure. The difference in off-idle power will amaze you.

Thanks for the uplifting $$$$ remark I'm sure the wife is all for another upgrade. That's good to know though about the twins program. Funny though, when I spoke with TST, they said it wouldn't do anything for me except smoke...oh well, I'm sure they have their reasons.
