Talking Ts Shiftmaster! ???

I was reading yesterday about the ts shiftmaster and it said it has levels for economy tow and like a performance level. What are the advantages. It seems like if you get one and would put it on the economy level the tc would lock up alot earlier giving you lower rpm's and saving fuel. Any ideas?

Yeah, for a buck-fifty put on your own TC lockup switch. Takes about 1/2 hour total... and you can lock and unlock as you see fit and save the $$$ from that kit and put it into diesel fuel.

This allows you to lock up the torque converter manually so you can run the tranny a little cooler, not have slippage (like when towing slow in second gear around corners and whatnot) and gain a little mpg and easier on the tranny in the process... as long as you use this in a prudent manner.

Is there a different/cheap way to increase line pressures on these transmissions?

When should one actually manually lock the tc up when racing and when towing? Is it wise to use just driving normal around town?

I wouldn't really use it just around town... you can forget it is on and stall your engine. With a built trans you can lock it up as soon as you launch if you want, I wait until 2nd gear shift. It is hard on the intermediate shaft shifting while locked. Towing I lock it when I have enough rpms in the gear I want to use... don't let it shift while locked when towing.

So pretty much if towing only use it when your at a cruising speed when theres no shifting happening? Does it effect anything if its locked and say the trans downshifts?? So when racing as soon as the trans shifts into 2nd lock it up? Does locking it up manually sooner put power to the ground sooner?

Mine won't downshift until you unlock it. I do lock it in 2nd gear racing, allows you to put power to ground instead of wasted in fluid slippage... Remember this is hard on shafts!

The TS shiftmaster has nothing to do with TC Lockup... It is mainly used improve shifting on 05-07 trucks.. It has a lot to do with the line presure that is controled by the computer. I got mine today and hooke it up.. works great.. It makes for a more firm shift..low,medium and high setting..

I have billet shafts.. So when Im racing lock it up as soon as it hits 2nd gear? Say when the race is done or I let out the throttle to slow down just unlock it? Any don't lock it up cruising around town inless at a cruising speed?

TS Shift Master

It kicks ***.... Makes the 1-2-3 stack shift goin away. I had a write up about it when I put it on. Basically each level increases the time that it waits to shift into the next gear. It rocks.

Here is my thread/writeup on it.....
