Trying to Instal a Walbro/CP3 Bypass System???
Even for the fear of starting a rant thread, I still have to ask this question. I'm looking for help guys so please don't try to start anything here.
I'm in the middle of trying to impliment a Walbro with CP3 bypass and if at all possible would like some step by step intructions with pics if possible before I start on this project. I've got everything I need, from the stock LP replacement plate to all subsequent fittings and misc. fuel hose and clamps. I just get under the truck and get frustrated cause I don't know where to start and feel like I might get in over my head once I start, and I don't have the funds to pay someone to do it for me.

I am in the process of installing mine now. Because of some confusion about the amperage the stock relay could handle I purchased a relay kit from summit racing. I'm also using a regulator pre CP3 and a large seperate return line.
My question is are you just going to use the by-pass line only or are you looking for better regulation? I try to help you if I can.
On edit: Sorry I re-read your post and saw that you are using the by pass.
I mounted my pump to the bottom of the bed instead of the frame rail because it was easier. Their was a cut out in the bed above the frame rail and I drilled mounting holes on either side and installed with the mounting kit provided.
Remove old LP and fuel line that is attached. I blew low pressure air into fuel line to clear the fuel from line. Cut steel feed line and splice Walbro in-line.
Mount the adaptor to back of filter and run new rubber line from steel line on frame by the firewall to adaptor.
You need to install two tapped banjo-bolts into the CP-3 and install the by-pass line.(whatever size you choose).
Like I said in the begining I chose to use a seperate relay to feed power to my Walbro. You have to decide how you want to power yours.
I also purchased the tapped filter lid from Genos and installed a mechanical fuel pressure gauge so I could track pre-filter pressure.

I just uploaded pictures of the regulator and relay. (I have an auto so there is a plastic cover plate covering what I assume is the clutch pedal hole in the firewall, this is what that silver plate is attached to.)
Also of the return adaptor for fuel filler hose. Only problem is the adaptor is 2" and hose is 1 1/2". I will try to get you pictures of the pump mount later. Their is about 6" of snow on the ground now. Do you have any specific questions?

are you triggering your relay with the factory fuel pump wire? what did u regulate the pressure to? where is your regulator in relation to the fuel filter what kind of pressure are you seeing there?
am considering this mod and using the bypass at the cp3 so as not to limit flow with the regulator...

Yes, I am using the factory wires to trigger the relay. I am using a harness extension I got from Cummins so I did'nt have to cut the stock wiring.
My Regulator is after the fuel filter and before the CP3. My install is not finished because the fuel filler line return adaptor I got is the wrong size. I hope to have my install finished this weekend.
Plumbed this way the regulator will not limit flow. Regulator will flow 150 GPH. Much more than I will ever need.

I inquired about the fuel cap with the adapter port they did not recomend it. they said sometime it doesnt fit the filter right and allows fuel to bypass it...are you using a second bypass at the CP3? Do you have a part number for the fuel pump wiring extension?

As for the return, My factory return is untouched and I'm running an 8 AN return line back to the fuel filler hose at the tank. Their is a pic in my gallery of the adaptor. Only problem is adaptor is 2" OD and filler hose is 1 1/2". I will hopefully adapt it to work this weekend.

This is very interesting! I have never heard of this. I'll poke around and see what I can find out. Who told you this?

The Cummins part number for the Fuel pump wire extension is 4025182.
This is a Cummins part and can not be gotten from Dodge.
