truck missing with Quad XZT box
i have had the Quad XZT box on my truck for less than a week now.the bottomend fills fine. but if i am driveing down the interstate at lets say 70 mph and i go wot to pass somebody .my truck will what seems like it is missing, start missing at 80 mph or better.allso it does not fill like it is loseing power or anything just missing bad enough you can fill it. I changed the oil and fuel filter today. i just bought this truck a 2 weeks ago. so it was time to do a oil change etc. the new fuel filter did not change anything.this is my everyday driver and i really do not want to hurt the truck. I only drive 65 mph on the interstate. unless i have to pass somebody lol. fuel, egt, boost guages will be bought at the end of this week or frist of next week. i have pm quad but i never heard anything back from him. he probly has to much to do at work or i must of just asked him a stupid question.
so sorry for solong of post. but has anybody eleses truck done this and what did you have to do to fix it. thanks for all the help guys. Bobby Miller

check the wire harness where you connect to the map sensor and fuel rail pressure sensor. Can not remember which one can be installed backwards but one of them can. I think they should both have the clips facing toward the firewall. When I get a chance I'll look at my stock truck to see which way they should face.
Check all connections for proper fit. some times a little dielectric grease can clear up an electrical gremlin.

hey thanks for all the help guys. if it is not raining tomarrow i will use some electrical grease on the connections and check everything.hopefully everything is hooked up right. because the frist time i put the box on my truck. i had the prv plug in backwards
and the truck would not run at all. allso i asked this once before but got no answers. but my truck seems faster on topend with out the quad hooked up.I do not know maybe its just me.but thanks for the help guys. mopar72

I have read where some turned back their ROk because of timing knock with the XZT. Consider the Quad Commander for the fuel and rail pressure. I think something is telling the computer to back off ie. boost, fuel, rail. From about 20 to 80 the truck should feel strong. After that I do not know because my boost has hit 39 PSI and fuel is 0 and I back off.
I don't have a PM from you?? maybe it did not go through for you? I try to save as many messages as I can and I only delete old ones to make plenty of room for new messages. I can go back to about 2 weeks and I do not have anything??
Anyhow, my first thought is to maybe back the Rokktech sensor off just a bit if you can. It sounds like it might have just a wee bit too much timing at higher cruising speeds.
The other thing it sounds like it could be is an older version of the software. I think about 2 years ago when the 600's were new we had a similar problem. Did you buy this XZT new or used from someone? If it is a used one then it could just need a software update?
The last thing I can think of is that your stock lift pump is sub-par and at full song and higher Rpm's the pump is running out of fuel.
I am going to take a wild guess and say that the module is not actually acting up or it normally will throw some sort of engine code. Normally if you just completely starve the CP3 it will throw a light too??
So, my first instinct is that it must be an older model? That is a WAG at this point though!

Quad thanks for the quick reply. please understand that i was in no way trying to say anything bad about you. i was not. i just thought you was real busy or my questions was to dumb to respond to. which i have been know to ask some times.Quad i bought the xzt from larry right here on the DTR store.which i think the box is only a week old. i do know if i put the bypass plug on and make a wot pass the truck will pull fine all the way up to 100 mph. quad the xzt mzkes a lot more power down low. it is it just seems like my truck will go faster from 70 on up stock than it will with the xzt. but maybe it is like you said to much timeing. i am going to put my stock crank sensor on tomarrow and try it again.i have been trying to not make alot of wot passes untill i get some guages etc.quad allso no dtc at this time. quad if you need me to .i have access to a DRBIII that i can use anytime i want. Quad just want to say thanks to you and every body that has tryed to help me with this. thanks Bobby Miller

man i had the same thing happen on my truck on the way home from buying it. i had the edge juice with attitude monitor. i was at 70 and went to wot to pass and it started missing. by missing i mean jolting me in the seat back and forth. not dramatic but def. felt it. it threw a code and I FREAKED OUT!!!... i pulled over and went straight to autozone for them to read the code and it read that the fuel pack #3 (sorry if that is not exactly correct but you get the picture.) had triggered the code. I disconnected and reconnected it and reset the light. I had no problems wot up to 70 and even over that for a while. about 3 months later pulling a horse trailer i had the box on 2 (tow) on the interstated and hit wot at 60 and it did it again WITHOUT the CEL. I sold the box and the guy has not had one problem with it. he knew it had messed up on me before.
I have the exact same truck as you with the 5600 and everything. he had a different tranny. i wondered if it was something to do with the gearing in the tranny being different.
sorry for the long post.

Is it just me, or is having a manual tranny the common denominator here. Is there something with taking your foot off the skinny pedal to shift and the defuel causing something wacko in the electronics that we're missing?
Just a thought. I have no technical data to back any of anything stated.

There are no dumb questions, Bobby. Asking questions is part of the learning process.
Get those gauges on there as soon as you can, and limit WOT runs to a minimum in the meantime.
Luckily you have the module that comes with the best customer service in the industry. Your problem will be taken care of.
Good luck!
Mine was 2nd and 4th driving, heavier throttle, but clutch hasn't slipped even during shifting. The reason I know, is I've been keeping close tabs to see if it does - if it has slipped, then it sure hasn't been noticeable.
The difference with mine, it appears that once it starts running rough, it stays that way until the engine is shut down for 30 sec. Then upon restart, it runs fine.
Btw, mine hasn't done it since Monday. The only thing different that I've done is change the fuel filter and I've turned off the defuel on the Commander and I'm only running the alert set at 4 psi. Other than that, nice little puff o' smoke on Level 3 setting.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to quad and everybody on here that is trying to help me out. well i installed my stock crank sensor and went for a drive.well with the stock crank sensor it fills like it has more bottomend than with the rokktech sensor. so i get on the highway and run the truck up to 70 mph the truck runs fine. from 70 to 80 mph now the truck fills like it does with the bypass plug in.so i slow back down to 70 mph. as soon as i get some room i got wot. when the truck hits 85 mph it starts jerking hard enough to allmost give you whiplash. the part i do not understand is with the rokktech crank sensor. when i hit 80 mph it would miss but not that bad.what i am trying to say is you could fill it miss but it was still gaining speed. tonight as soon as the truck hit 85 mph it was bucking hard. so i let out of the throttle and settled back down to 70 mph.so it looks like i am done messing with the truck untill i get some guages on it and probly a aftermarket lift pump. now i just have to decide what guages to get dipricol or quads commander??
Quad is there any kind of lift pump pressure test i can do with the DRB or am i going to have to take it to the dealer for the test. the truck is still under warranty so i might just have them put a new lift pump in it for now. i can buy guages or aftermarket lift pump but not both right now. guys thanks for all the help.
