Question Transmission Question

I'm planning to get a 2007 5.9L that won't stay stock for long. I prefer the manual 6-speed over the AT just because I like to shift, but is the manual up to major power increases if the clutch is upgraded, or should I be looking at the AT with the intent of replacing it with a built unit fairly quickly.

Thanks,

You could spend about $1300 on a 6 speed or about $5500 on an auto & I believe they would end up about the same. HTH

autos are usually faster in the 1/4 mile, but stick shifts usually get more power to the ground as long as it can hold the power.

well i think i can answere that, if you are going to be doing any mods like you said you are. Well, i have 14,000 miles on my 2007, and just to let you know it's in a transmission shop in Charelston SC right now, gettin a full billet ATS transmission installed in it right now!!! cause the stock tranny burned up at 14,000 miles. Dodge sure does not make a transmission that will hold up to the torque of the cummins!!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm not that concerned about 1/4-mile times, so it sounds like the manual will suit me just fine.
