Thumbs down Transgo kit installed Dohhhh!!!

I installed the kit today took about 6 hours total time[4 of those at work rebuilding my VB] but all in all easy kit to do, the build up to doing the kit was more stress than anything. It was a little overwhelming at first(valvebody) but once I got started I ask myself why I was worried about not being able to do it. anyway a little overwhelming at first but patience and focus, take your time, clean work place, and organization are key keep track of what goes were and discard springs and valves that are replaced as they come out otherwise it could get confusing. I did however spend a few minute on all fours looking for a check ball that had slipped my grip. Installed it back into the truck and buttoned everything back up filled it with oil ran it checked it everything looked good. while I was letting the tranny warm up I started draining my oil into the emptys and Doohhhhhh! The accumulator valve was at the bottom of the pan. It must have fallen out when I pulled the VB and I didnt notice. what a dope!!! So I decided to test drive it any way the accumulator wasnt a part of the actual vb rebuild it calls for a spring replacement that gets installed into the trans itself along with a plug. The result of that missing part was horrible takeoff like driving a 4 banger no OD no TQ lockup no 1st or 2nd actually after I dumped it into 1st it acted like a brake and came to a complete stop. D works fine with the exception of takeoff and no OD and no lockup. I was hoping to be able to give a thumbs up on this kit but it will have to wait until I get that **** accumulator back in to do so I'm do that in the morning I'll post up and update.

Step #2) Always take a good look around and take inventory of your parts before initial launch! I try to check at least 2 or 3 times then I continue! But let us know how it works! I'm thinking of getting the same kit!

definitely keep us posted. I am curious whether this might be a good temporary option while saving for a full tranny build.

speaking of that, can this be 'undone' when moving to a Goerend TC/VB and billet shafts, or would it work with Goerend's TC and not need replacing?

Maybe, Dave disables some of the VB circuits and mods others. I cannot remember if Transgo mods some that Dave leaves alone. You should speak with him direclty on that one. 563-778-2719

All right, I put the accumulator back but while doing so broke the black connector that sits on top of the valve body and gets pushed up into the trans and then from the top gets plugged in I did my best to rig it back together. Super glued and zip tied. Glue did not work but zip ties help but dont think it is enough. I test drove it and it shifts fine with the exception of no OD. I talk to a tech at my local dodge dealer and he said that if the plug is not seated all the way then that is why I have no OD I priced the new plug and it comes as a harness for $127.99. So instead of going that route I ended up ordering a new VB from BD performance As soon as I pull my VB and replace it with the BD VB I will repair the connector bracket with epoxy and try and sell it

Let me know who is interested in a VB from an 06 48re with transgo kit installed in it I'm looking for about $300 for it not tax no core
