just wondering what all is involved. by the time i actually buy the parts, drive to a good shop and pay someone to install them, i could simply drop my 48RE and swap it for a complete DTT unit. i am a fairly skilled shadetree mechanic but don't have a lot of patience, wondering if this could be a vice? nothing wrong with my 48RE, just weighing options for the future.

 

It would be simple if you don't have a 4x4. You'd need a few people to help you and at least 1 floor jack, the 48re is a heavy beast. If you can wrestle it out, it's relatively easy to pull. I think 2 connectors on the side of the tranny, tranny cooler lines, TV cable (i think your truck has one, I think my 05 doesn't), should be it, I'm not sure where the breather is.
