feels like i lost 2nd gear and my converter slips like an S.O.B. already programed my smarty to stock, putting stock airbox back on and taking the boost fooler off. Im also wondering if I should put my gridheater back on. Anyone else been in the situation.

Put it to stock.... completely. Even rub some dirt on any fasteners you may have shiny from removing. You only have one shot at this so you better make it count.

P.S. Prepare to be flamed!

My thought exactly. You played, now suck it up and pay. Even if you do get it replaced, it's still stock and won't last long behind a smarty induced engine. Just upgrade and get it over with.

ok he should spend thousands of dollars when people are selling their diesels to get gassers because they cant afford the fuel prices, i would see what factory is going to say, then go buy a valve body and converter, you can install them yourself very easily and save some cash and also DONT RUN THE SMARTY AT SUCH A HIGH LEVEL.

I'm very interested! Will you please explain how installing a torque converter is "very easy"? All this time I thought you had to drop the tranny and the transfer case. Maybe I'll just go throw one in before breakfast. And, of course, then the tranny will handle all the power I can give it.

This is a real good idea. Go to all the effort to convert your truck back to stock and trick the dealer because it must be Dodge's fault your tranny went out.

You get a rebuilt stock tranny and put all the mods back on so you can blow up that one too. Then the process starts over until you get a clue and get a better tranny to begin with.

If you are going to bomb the Cummins, you have to do the tranny too.

Sounds like the folks that don`t do anything to protect their home when a hurricane is coming , then let the government (the rest of us) foot the bill...

You have to take responsability for your own actions...you had the money for all of the power adders , lift/wheels/tires etc... and now you expect someone else to fix your broken rig.....not cool

Ripping off Dodge because you modded you truck is not cool. BUT, there are a couple places where their product was not up to par for buyers (of course, my opinion). Auto transmissions and injectors. Guys with stock often have trouble trouble with their autos & injectors. My buddy w/a Duramax has a 200k warranty on his injectors.

You guys crack me up! The stock tranny is only built to take the stock torque.

If you run a Smarty and oversize tires and you beat on it or even just tow, you have to do the tranny.

The only way to keep a stock 48RE together under those conditions is to keep the revs up and keep your foot out of it.

I put a TC and VB in mine and with my Smarty on 90 HP I can still slip it in OD. I wish they were built stronger, and Dodge knows how to build them stronger and even has the parts, but they don't, and I'm not trying to make them pay for my broken toys. When you go beyond stock power you become your own warrantee station.

Yeah Man pay to play...why would you want to go back to a stock tranny anyways? You can't put a garbage tranny behind the almighty Cummins...it will eat it for breakfast...save your dough and get a bombed tranny to go w/ your bombed motor...

I know you gotta pay to play...I did had a 2nd gen that was hovering around 600 hp to the ground so this isnt my first rodeo. Like I stated before I knew this was coming. I rarely tow right now and bought the truck for the longevity and the 4 doors. I feel a fresh stocker will last if I drive normal and have my smarty on a very low setting. I bought a smarty for the exact reason that it leaves no footprints. Not really feeling bad about taking the rig to the dealer. I dunno, maybe its just me.
