Question Tonneau's and Truck Boxes

Hi all,

What's everyone doing these days to make the best use out of their truck beds? Most of the trucks I see running around have completely empty beds which seems like such a waste. What kind of tonneau covers, truck boxes, etc. you all using? Anyone using the Access Roll-Up Cover or the Pace-Edwards Roll-Top cover? I ordered an Access Cover (which hasn't arrived yet) for my '05 CTD 2500 4X4 Long Bed, but now I'm thinking of sending it back and getting the PE Roll-Top instead. I want the bed to be fairly secure for those occasions that I'm carrying valuables back there, and the PE cover looks more secure than the Access Cover. Also contemplating a truck box, maybe just one under the cover, that I can store more valuable items in if necessary. Thoughts and suggestions, anyone?

Go with the Fold-A-Cover. It works great and I can still leave it inplace when I pull my 5VR. Later this summer if things get better I'm getting an Aux Fuel Tank that fits under the cover

lets see, atm, I have two portable tool boxes, a drill, cordless drill, and ratchet set lined up by the cab, behind that is a couple pumps, a 15 hp motor, two boxes of pig mats and a crap load of hydraulic fittings.
The back seat has a speaker box, two pairs of coveralls, and soem other clothes, a couple gallons of water and something making the truck smell funky....

btw, the hard toneau cover is squishing the motor box to close.

"Supergewl", I noticed you have the fold a cover. Im debating to get a cap, or the fold a cover for my new truck when I get it. Ive had caps on all my other p/u's, but I think these Dodges look better with a bed cover instead of a cap. How secure is it? Is it metal or a hard plastic? Also does it kinda lock the tailgate in place like how a cap does, or can you still open the gate, with the cover closed? Its a hard decision for me, Theres aways that one time where ya gonna say, Man, I wish I had a cap today..... Please let me know any info if you dont mind

Thanks for the replies so far.

I did get an Access Cover yesterday, installed it, and while it's a very nice soft tonneau, I decided I'm going to return it. For a soft tonneau, it probably the best one I've seen. With a tailgate lock installed, can secure the truck bed (you have to open the tailgate to release the tonneau lock. BUT....the vinyl material is fairly thin, and you can peel open the side of the cover just enough to peer inside. If a thief peeled up the side and decided what was in there was worth getting, the cover could be slashed open in a matter of seconds with a pocket knife and take everything.

Soo...I placed an order for a Pace-Edwards JackRabbit cover. Pricey, and I've heard mixed reviews on it, but I'm going to roll the dice on it. Should be more secure than the access cover. I have read about people having trouble shimming the rails just right to get the cover to slide smoothly, and I've also read of people having weathering/discoloration issues with it too. Also, the rails stick out a little further, and you have a 9.75"x11" box at the front of the bed that robs some of your bed's space. Despite all that, I think the improved security of the JackRabbit will meet my needs better. We'll see. I'll post again when I get it installed.
