THE STT's are wickedly nice tires...very aggressive and the 265's are suppose to be slightly narrower overall than the s/t's due to more stout sidewalls that bulge less. Let us know how it turns out. Have them dynamically balanced ....I had mine balanced on one of those low speed Hunter idiot things and they covered my rims with oz after oz of weights like zits on a teen ager and the tires wobbled the truck....took it to my alignment shop and had them balance them on the truck and there was only three rims with 1oz of weight....and the truck never felt so smooth...it was like a whole new truck. Good Luck. KS

Personal opinion, i worked at a firestone in town for a couple of years and was very impressed with the firestone transforce a/t. It has the E load your looking for, good traction, great mileage wear. SRW for me so i dont know about upsizing. Possibilty of even going with the firestone destination m/t that i have, i love these tires!!!

Hey buddy, wider is not necessarily better. I just left a post with regards to this company rickson tires. They produce a wide variety of tires for all applications and they custom build their own rims to match your needs. I will show some pics, but just Google their site. They are G and H rated tires.
The rim shown is 19.5 and the tire shown is a 16 ply tire.

I too was upset with getting stuck in the winter in less than an inch of snow with the factory tires, and they weren't bald yet either! I got myself some 265/70R17 Hankook ATM RF10's for cheap and have been extremely happy with them! I don't use spacers and there is more then enough gap between the rear wheels. I found they were even cheaper then the Coopers and the tread looks to be better for snow/ice then the Coopers but I have not real data to back that up.

I have been using the cooper for the last couple sets and the warranty is 50k. I have only got 13k out of a seet since I tow alot driving like a madman. The last set of 4 for the rear only cost me 200 because the warranty covered $138 per tire which left me with $43 per tire plus mounting. And the warranty just moves right to the next set as long as you don't lose your paperwork. I have the ATR's now but the next ones will be ST's. They said as long as I stick with cooper then the tread doesn't matter, they will still credit for whatever. Wish I would of done this 140k ago.
