Tire questions..... time for some new ones
Although I don’t have 35’s, I’ll provide my experience & opinion on the Toyo MTs (LT295/70R/17 E) and GY Duratracs (LT265/70R/17 E). I currently have and run both. For a basis; I generally run empty and most use of my truck is as a commuter to get from the Bay Area to my cabin in the Sierra’s. So most miles are highway, but road conditions going thru the Sierra’s in winter are extremely dynamic going from sea level to 7000’. Tires also see mild off-roading in the Sierra’s for fishing, wood cutting, etc.
Toyo’s – these tires are over designed and built super tough. Quality of construction is outstanding. They balanced exceptionally well for such a heavy tire – one tire took no weight at all. Considering the aggressive tread they’re not overly noisy, but you will hear them. They ride and handle pretty well. They are not a bad winter tire for a MT, especially if sipped. But the tradeoff to achieve winter handling is a softer rubber compound, thus they will wear faster than some other brands. But for me; good performance on wet pavement, slush, snow, and ice is more important than the tire lasting a few more miles.
DuraTracs – Contrary to many complaints I’ve read about this tire on this and other sites, these may be the best all around tires I’ve ever owned. Their winter performance is nothing short of amazing. In snow and ice these tires will go places in 2WD that no other tire will go locked in 4WD. They will stop on a dime in wet pavement – two dimes in snow. I really can’t say enough about their winter performance. The Duratracs are not built as stout as the Toyo. Sidewalls are only 2-ply, and this is a flimsy 2-ply. Balancing them took more weight than any Toyo, Michelin, or Bridgestone I’ve ever owned… but no more than your average BFG. I run mine at the pressure setting that appears on my door sticker that Dodge recommends and they handle great. They run down the road true with no vibrations or squirm or mushy feel that some complain about. The tires are very quiet too, almost as quiet as my stock BFG Rugged Terrains which I had been running for summer until I found these. I’ve experienced none of the negatives people have posted about DuraTracs. At this point I’m considering selling my Toyo’s because I don’t see myself taking the GY’s off.

Welllllll, unfortunately i've been waiting on my Toyos from discounttire and they said they just dont know when they will come off back order. So i went ahead and ordered the procomp xtreme all terrains. I know thats not exactly the most popular tire for these trucks but ive seen some good reviews and will give them a shot. If i could wait i really would for the Toyos but i'm really needing for a road trip coming up. Maybe if i just absolutely hate these then i'll raise cane at discount when the toyos are back available and switch them out haha.
There have been some good reports on the procomp extremes and the 35" has a good load rating. I know a couple of guys that swear by them. I have personally not had good luck with procomp tires.
I would have to throw another bone for the Hankook Dynapro ATM's. Except for deep or gooey mud, they are outstanding in every other catagory. They are the equal of my previously favorite ice and snow tire Truxxs MT. But wear much longer and are better handling and better towing and on the street as well. And competitively priced.
Worth a look the next time out.

I'm running 50 front 45 rear in 315/70-17 load range D Kumo Road Venture's, they seem to be wearing well. I do a fair amount of rugged off road travel for Search and Rescue, these tires do fine but have a few chunks torn off on the outter lug edges. When driving off road if I have time I usually air down to about 35psi front and rear.
My story about Pro Comp XAT's is around here somewhere.. Between 4wp not honoring the warranty because of where I live, and the tread block seperating from the carcass on one tire, I'll never buy from 4wp or pro comp tires again. I currently am running Firestone Destination AT's and they have been great tires. 30k on them so far, and I expect another 15k out of them, which is OUTSTANDING for the abuse and mountain roads they see. I am still trying to decide if I want to try a different tire for this go around, or if I want to stick with the Firestone's.
I have 45K on my Firestone Destinations, looking for some new ones before winter. These have been great tires, would like to see more life in them, thinking of switching to the BFG Rugged Terrain.
