Unhappy Timing level 4 safe on smarty???

Ok. So I turned my Smarty on sw2 and and the timing on 4 everything else is default...I did this to play around and find out what the setting for best fuel economy will be on my truck, but when I turned the timing on 4 i noticed that my truck is now extremely fast. Is this safe for the truck to be run hard on timing level four or should I reserve that for fuel eco and back it off when running it hard. Or are there things I need listen for that will tell me whether or not it is damaging the truck. Also if it is safe on sw2, will timing level 4 be safe on sw9? Just wondering.

Is it the standard Revo tune? If so, yes, only run it for fuel economy. Put it on timing 2 to play, and put it on timing 3 to tow.

i personally like smarty on timing 3 it sounds the best motor wise level 2 got a little loud and level 4 left me with popping. with it on level 3 i got the best results so thats where i run mine with sw7. with your setup you should get the tnt and try that.

Revo Timing 4 doesn't work well on the '03-04 models. You can try it but most of us has experienced popping during WOT with the higher timing setting.

I'm using Revo timing 3.

Thanks. I haven't had any popping yet at wot on this power level. I'm netting some huge fuel eco savings. God bless smarty!!

What is the TNT? Are they tunes for the smarty? If so can I update the smarty I currently have to use TNT?

The TNT is a more powerful program. SW1 starts at 100hp.
You can download the TNT from Mads Electronics website for either the S-04 or S-06.

First of all thanks for all the replies. Second, I drove all the way from Temple, TX to Nashville, AR with my Smarty S06 POD with just the Revo tunes set on sw2, POD level 99, timing 4, tq mgmt 3, and everything else default. I just wanted to try it and see if the engine would work fine under those conditions. I drove mostly 80mph the whole way, got great fuel mileage, my EGT never went over 800 uphill, i never had popping, and the truck runs like a (you fill in the blanks).

Last time I tried it on timing level 3 it seemed a little doggy. It could just be me and my inexperience and maybe I didn't set something right, but it seemed like my truck wasn't making boost. I'm going to try some of the higher tunes on timing level 2 and make note of the results. I'm kinda wondering if there's a boost fooler on this truck and whether or not the wastegates have been modified. I kinda supposed that would have all been eliminated when the twins were put on, but i rarely see over the mid 30lbs for boost and occasionally 40 which is IMO not crap for what these twins should be making.

I'll post my findings and if there's still an issue with boost, maybe that will have to make another thread.

Guys. I think I found out why the timing level 4 wasn't bothering my truck. I was looking at the quad boost foolers and found that on 04 models you had to make adj to wastegate and on 04.5 it was all electronic and only a boost fooler was needed.....anyways long story short, I was trying to find out if I had an 04 or 04.5 so I googled it and got a link back to DTR that said the cut-off date for the 04 was 12/04 and anything 01/04 on is 04.5. If this is true I must have 04.5 because it was made on 05/04. Maybe this will change things a bit.

Too be sure look for the data tag located on the CP3 on the driver side (next to the valve cover). It will show the HP rating. The '04.5 will be 325hp.

If that's the case timing 4 is fine.

Timing for is one step above stock, timing 3 is next with timing 2 being the highest.

Every truck reacts a bit differently so you have to tune each one seperately for power RP and timing.

Timing 3 and 4 is for bigger injectors and more fuel, Timing 2 is efficiency.

Those timing levels are for Revo TNT. The standard Revo tune is not like this at all.

I just turned my TST off/by passed it, can't afford to brake anything with a baby on the way and adding onto the house, anyway, I have the TNT tune and I did SW9, TQ 4, Timing 3 and R/P 3 and I'm happy with the power curve, very lil turbo lag and not as crazy as my stack with the TST, but like I said very happy with the power curve.
