jim (the owner of alien patrol) is on another site (pm me if you wanna know) and it seems that all of his bidness is getting straightened out. he's got a shop in colorado and is all settled in there. everybody, that i know of, who had problems getting their stuff has been taken care of, and he actually posted pictures of a stockpile of bumpers he's had made.

No kidding. Never on a Road Ruster, that's for sure! I can't remember ever seeing one that's wasn't badly rusted.

I'd only consider spending money on an Aluminum bumper. Or maybe just powder coat the crap out of it.

I ordered a RA bumper abt 2 months ago. I ordered directly from the factory. I was told it would be 3-4 weeks, then when i called to cancel on the 8th week after alot of run around i was given a tracking number and received it within a couple of days.I believe no matter where you order it from you're in for a wait. If you can hang in there it will be worth it.

Road Armor and Alien Patrol were recently in the midst of a copyright infringement battle. This is the story I've read about from another site, so it may be rumor, just what I read.

The owner of Road Armor didn't design the bumper. A guy that worked for him did. They apparently had a falling out, and the designer guy left and started Alien Patrol, using the same design of bumper. Hence, the legal battle. Because of this production was on he back burner for both companies. I heard they have since settled the riff and production is back on line, only now they're both backordered so much, people have to wait extended periods.

Be patient, both companies make a quality product.

Thanks for all the replys guys i appreciate it. Im gonna call both 4wheelonline and road armor about it on monday to see what they say. The wait isn't really whats bothering me just the way they handled it i think (but the wait prolly added to the aggrivation).

Charging your card is standard procedure when the company is having it dropped shipped to you. They have no way of knowing when it will ship and that is the only way to guarantee they get paid.

If they didn't do that, the factory could ship to you and bill them, and then they find out your credit card is no good. You have the bumper, they have the bill for it and no way to collect from you

If you want to cancel the order, just call them and tell them so.
Thanks lary i hear you... If i did cancell my order and then reorder im prolly just gonna have to wait 4 weeks longer than i normally would.

Call ALien Patrol. I had a set of RA on my truck and was in a wreck. I called RA to get a replacement and was told I would be 6-8 weeks out and it would be $1700 and some change plus shipping.

I talked to Jim @ ALIEN-PATROL, the original owner of RA and got my bumper rush ordered and delivered in one week. Great guy to work with. and even with the rush order and shipping it was still cheaper then just the cost of the RA bumper.

Alien Patrol just moved facilities and then outgrew the new facilities, but they are all set-up now and turning them out.

Talk to Jim and let him know Shane Gardner and Jason Cade sent you!

Talk to Both Companies, They will tell you the story. Jim, Owner of Alien Patrol Started RA in 94 or 95. in 2003 he asked some "friends" to help him out. Then they tried to buy him out of his own company in 2005. That is why he started Alien Patrol. I have worked with RA and Jim on a couple projects since 2004.

Cost wise AP makes more sense and the quality is just as good if not a little bit better. I.E. full welds instead of tack welds...

Beware of Alien Patrol

The sooner you pay the longer you wait. Pay a little extra for the COD shipping and your better off.

most people, on this forum, who own a RA front bumper, paid around $1000 for it (give or take a couple of bucks). i've seen mail order companies, who are selling the RA bumper for around $1400, then advertise 10-20% off your order. i've never heard of anyone paying $1700 for a RA front bumper- not saying you can't find someone who will take $1700 for one, though.

Well, That price was personally quoted from Mike, I think that was him, at Road Armor, and he was cutting me a deal for choosing to run another RA bumper.

If That is the style Bumper that someone really wants, then I say check out both companies, and go with your gut. Personally I would like to have the extra $500.00 in pocket and have my bumper atleast 3 weeks before the other company tells you that yours is on the way... Just my $.02

I'd really like one of these bumpers but cost and reading these posts makes me think the $$$ is better left in my pocket.

bumper

The info about patent is correct, many companies now make the same Road Armor design. I bought mine direct from a company in Redding, CA. I picked them up from the company. I really like the front; the rear is OK, but would consider Buckstop rear. Their website http://www.jddistributing.com/site/1320111/page/45029
