Thank You Dtt

Just got back from my holiday out on Vancouver Island and southern BC, and during my trip I had an appointment at DTT for a new transmission for my baby. What a unit!!!! Works amazing, shifts like a dream, no more turbo flutter when going into lock up, had me smiling all the way home, (actually I'm smiling right now..). No way I could be any happier with it. I had the pleasure of meeting MR Bill Kondolay, Stephan, Darrin, and the rest of the staff, a great bunch of people. Anybody considering a new trans should absolutely make DTT their destination, you won't regret it, so again, THANKS DTT, you guys made my truck work the way it should, cheers, Marc.

Marc,

Did they rebuild yours? Or did they install another one? And, can I ask how much it set you back? Also, what all did you have done? Input, outputs too? Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They had one built and ready to go in when I got there. I did the billet input shaft with hub, output shaft, 3rd gear drum. Hot rod valve body, this thing is wicked. Transmission also has all the other little neat bits and pieces that DTT has developed. I already had a Mag-hytec DD pan, which they transfered to my new one.

Tweeter, if you don't mind could you maybe PM me what it cost for you to do this. I am looking to do the same thing from DTT very soon. I wont be able to go out west where they are, but I have talked to them and there is a guy that installs their trannys from them a couple hours away from me. Congratulations too on the new tranny.

Congrats Again! Sounds awesome. I got your PM. Was there any other "options" to buy .....or is that everything? What other options choices were there?

What a great group of trans builders!
The real story is yet to come. Wait till you have 100,000 , 200,000 miles on it and you think, It still shifts like it did day one.

I've got the VB and TC only but I will be doing the whole trans option soon. I'll need it with my upcoming mods....

Price varies depending on extras (read BILLET) added. The website has a price list on it (in US$$$), and to really determine what you NEED, talk to Stephan, (1-866-504-4002), he'll give you an honest opinion and no pressure. The basic transmission has all of the goodies that DTT has developed, extra clutches and the like, then depending on the customer/truck, billet shafts, drums, and hubs are added as requested. Mine out the door, installed, with all applicable taxes came out to just a couple of bucks under $7500 Canadian, plus the flexplate. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? In my opinion, YES. I was on my 2nd dealer overhaul, and it lasted only 1200km (800miles) before the converter was blued and 4th gear slipped. (NO I'm not surprised). Get as much info as you can, and be honest with your power plans and what you need the tranny to withstand. I plan on 4Hi launches at 20 psi boost pressure, hence the billet input shaft/hub, and billet output shaft. I haul heavy and hard, and plan to build 650+ HP eventually, hence the 3rd gear drum and flexplate. Like the old addage goes, speed/power costs money, how much do you want?

One other note to address a thread about a month ago. If you plan to use their flexplate, they make a THINNER torque converter to make up for the extra THICKNESS of the flexplate. Just something else to keep in mind when planning your upgrades. Cheers.
