You have to switch to gas to use this thing? Wow, that is a mod!

Typo. Just glad to get better mileage. Diesel fuel is getting ridiculous.

From what I have read...(I have no first hand experience)...even larger mesh will begin to reduce the benefit. Like everything else, you can go too far either way. Would be interesting to read what all Car-Nut tested...- JKE

Look'n at it, it blocks a lot of the air way.
The cell size is nominally 1/8" x .8" long. The relationship between cell size and length is important to creating smooth efficient flow. If you use a larger cell the length must also increase proportionally to have the same effect. Among other factors there is not enough space for a longer cell length.

Will it work "forced in" the rubber elbow like mentioned before by someone with a custom or AFE intake? I am concerned that it may be difficult to position. Is the TAG supposed to sit as close to the turbo as possible?

Thanks!

Cell size

If they made one with about 1/2" vanes, I would buy one and "make" it fit my intake tube just to test it.
You are right, I have many proto-type parts in the back that were tested for this application before settling in on the one we use. Several factors are involved here, such as cell size to length to optimize effect without excessive length. Another factor is strength of the part, the air can be traveling at several hundred miles per hour and we wanted the part to be able to withstand just about anything.

Yes, we have the TAG for the 2nd gen trucks and are working on developing a TAG-II for the second gen trucks as well. You can see more info about the TAG here http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/tag

B-1 TAG

Yes, we have made the TAG to fit int he B1, however the intake housing needs to be machined and we recommend the silencer ring be installed.

TAG with Torque Tube

We have had some customers install the TAG with the Torque Tube. It is a force fit and I do not care for it as the positioning of the TAG is difficult and no positive location. So it can be done and the TAG does protrude into the turbo a little, but I really don't like the install.

Well Car_nut57...

Is there a solution that you like better for those with intakes that want to use a TAG?

cquestad,

I think the best way to address the TAG with air intake tubes would be to get aFe for example to have the similar shelf or ridge molded directly into the rubber elbow. I have tried to contact them several times now about this, but no response.
