Any of you guys ever use a TCI converter in your trucks? If so what do you think of it?

 

Put one in my 93W250.Performed as stated and held up fine.TCI has been building them a long time.Lots of circle track stuff etc.Was a HUGE improvement over stock.Once I bought one and posted it several other First Generation owners did also.I think to the dismay of DTT/ATS etc.The TCI was easily 1/2 the price if not a little more then the others.Their a big company from what I can tell.Look them up on the Web.I even called them and asked specifics about their products etc.

 

I put one in my 95 and it was tighter but still slipped the clutch.
Then started buying the current brand and no more slippage and a lot tighter.
You will find it to be about 1/2 of what your truck needs if you try both, so choose what you want, or can afford.
BTW, the first TCI failed ans was sent back and exchanged all at my expense. Had VERY low miles on it.
Car guys call them Trash Can Installs.

 

I put a TCI in my Tahoe, and like J-Fox my first was trash. They claim to have an extensive quality control program, but it doesn't sound like this is true. I installed the converter myself so it didn't cost me anything to do the job twice, but it sure wasn't somehting I wanted to do. It's a decent converter, but I wouldn't buy another.

 

I know know I'm a little on the late side but I bought a TCI "performance" converter for my old ford p/u the snout wasn't machined would fit in the end of the crank snout. My pops bought a "perfromance" TCI trans & converter from a well known hi-po mail order parts place worked for a couple of years then the converter imploded and destroyed the whole inner workings of the trans. Had a local guy overhaul it he said the front pump had way tooo much tolerance all they did was add a clutch plate and drill some holes, he said he was not impressed at all not even one bronze bushing in the thing anywhere, basically all stock with an extra clutch plate some holes drilled here and there and a wore out pump. That's my take on TCI
