TC/VB Upgrade
TC/VB Upgrade
I'm looking to install a tighter TC and better VB on my stock 05 4x4 truck with 29000 easy miles on it.
How do you guys like them ? Can you tell me about how they perform when just driving around and when your towing with them?
Is it worth the BIG $$$$$$ that it cost to do this upgrade?

I just put in a HTS TC, VB, and billit input shaft, i got 49K on mine.. the shifts are alot firmer, u can tell more power is gettin to the ground, compared to the stock TC. I like mine alot, there are some guys on here with 500+hp on these tranny mods with no problems at all. go for it
To save you a lot of headaches, call Dave Goerend. When I did my T/C it was great, but when I did my V/B, I had problems with shifting, Dave helped me out even though I didn't buy my parts from him. If I could do it again I would go to him, no questions asked...oh yeah his web site. www.gbtransmissions.com
scott hall:
I have an "ATS Triple Lok TC and ATS Valve Body" along with their upgraded and increased number of fiber and steels in all of my clutch packs. I also have billet input and billet output shafts installed in my transmission along with the ATS Commander TC Controller. I am very happy with my transmission and have used ATS Transmissions in ALL of my trucks (1996, 2002 and now my 2006) with no problems whatsoever. My 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve has a complete Stage VI ATS Transmission with the brand new "Five Star" (Five Disc) TC and that truck is putting down 789 H.P./1383 TQ.
My transmission shifts firmer than stock but not harshly where it feels like it will "knock your teeth out" when it shifts.
I especially like the ATS Commander TC Controller. This unit allows me to "set" the speed at which the TC locks up. I tow heavy alot and the transmission works well there too.
While ATS may not be the cheapest transmissions out there they do give very good performance and ATS gives the owners a 3 year, 150,000 mile warranty on all their units.
You can go to their website also which gives some very good information on their components and full transmissions: www.atsdiesel.com.
Good luck.
