Which TC to buy TODAY!!`

I need some help buying a TC. I have opted to buy one in Lieu of a billet tranny for now. I had previosly decided to go with a Gorend trans, but have now thought about going with an ATS. Whichever the case, I was unsure if mix-matched parts would matter. I dont want to get an ATS TC, if I go with the gorend trans for example.

So...What TC shoudl I go with. I will be building on to this, the TC is temporary, a heavily modded trans will go in later, but I need to buy a TC today!!!

WHICH ONE FELLAS?....Im going to be running Smarty, Quad race, eventually injectors and upgraded turbo. So..I need something that will be a power holder once I get my trans done??

The Goerends TC has a lifetime warranty... Dave makes no money replacing TCs on his dime. That means he has to make one stout piece. I am very happy with my TC/tranny.

So I should probably go with the TC brand that Im going to buy my trans from?

NO offense, but those 2-3 posts didnt help much. I have done alot of research on trans here on DTR, but because of the mass amount of info and opinions, I have a hard time deciding. I didnt think I was going bail out on the full trans, but I have for now. I didnt get the bonus I was expecting!

Look, there are several top notch builders... you have researched enough to know that. There are some things some of them do that is unique to them and other things common amongst them. Some of them will use other makers parts... for instance, HTS using Suncoast TCs.

Some of the things they do are custom to the application. I wouldn't want to mix and match VB's for instance. For the most part, you can use one guys TC in anothers Tranny and not notice a whole lot of difference, but when the builder sets up a VB and tranny knowing what TC is used and how it performs... well I think it is the difference between just working and working most efficiently. The parts do all have to work together.

What you need to do is call ATS, Goerend, HTS, Suncoast and see what each tech has to say, then make your decision

Dave Goerend for me all the way. I have had a few of these in other trucks and also an ATS. I like the Goerend better. And you cannot beat the Goerend warranty! Even if you break your stock input shaft and take out the converter he will replace it - no charge. Dave is a real first class guy to deal with. And if rumors are true about ATS, the origional owner died and company is now ran by his wife and kid. I am not sure but thats what I heard.

Dusty at HTS was very knowledgeable, plus he doesnt charge a core charge, which helps out too. My tranny has been flawless. What ever you decide, you have to call and talk to them, they will set one up for your specific needs.

When you buy a converter make sure it has a billet front cover, a machined stator rather than a milled stock one, and torrington bearings. Also look into the warranty. Make sure it covers labor as well as the part. a T/C usually doesnt cost that much to fix on a failure, but you having to pay for the re&re can really take money out of your pocket. Do some research on these points and you cant go wrong.
