I called around today thinking I would be purchasing a commander/xzt setup for my truck and I called an outfit that had the best price with free shipping etc and he reccomended the power puck as he had one on his 07 and really liked it and it is only 165 shipped of course my ears perked up at the price and that he also stated that he got 23 mpg with it on the 50hp setting on a 400 mile trip. but who has run this and kept it? I will probably buy the combo kit since it will do tire size and such I can buy the combo for 380 out the door What am I missing? Also should I get a boost fooler while I am at it? does the puck do that? Like has been said before you get what you pay for or do you?

 

The Predator works well at a nice price. The Puck does not have boost fooling capabilities built in so I would recommend a fooler. Be aware that for the 06-07 CTD's you will not be able to use the trial feature or tune on the fly. They cause a bad jerk or shudder in the truck while cruising for some reason.

I have used the Predator/Puck and just the Predator and honestly I can't tell any difference while using the Puck. Personally, I would just get the Predator and a Quad Boost Fooler and save close to $100.

As for 23 MPG, he is probably reading the overhead, not actual mileage. Any power adder screws with your computer. Mine shows 26+ on highway trips sometimes.

 

I agree with most of what he said. I can get that kind of mileage (23mpg) but only if I stay at 60 mph on the highway. Under normal driving conditions (70-75mph) I get 19-20 mpg.

The Predator for the 06-07 trucks does not do any of those advertised extras. It gives the power and it clears codes. That's it! At least that's all mine does. The power is awesome though.
Having said all that, I may be switching back to something else soon. I really don't like the fact that it is so easy for the dealer to detect that you had the Predator on your truck. The price is definitely right though and it's really nice being able to clear codes so easily....

 

Does th tire recal work o n the 06s?

 

I read on here, at least on the older models ( 05 and older ? ), it was stated that the Predator is undetectable once put back to the stock setting.

 

It erases the key count, so it is detectable.

 

True, The dealer cannot detect that the Predator was on the truck. Unfortunately, the dealer can EASILY detect that A Downloader has been on the truck. Diablo uses a wordplay there to trick you into thinking you are safe. I've seen plenty of posts where warranties were in jeopardy because the dealer easily found that the keycounts had been wiped out therefore telling them a DL had been installed in the truck recently....

YES . i like mine .....i still have the shift on the fly (did not up grade programs)
It does jerk every 1k miles or so for 1 sec so i just deal with it!It does NOT read codes.....and is verry detectable at the dealer also screwed up my hour meter! You know your truck has a hour meter right?

It sucks!!! I tried the trial feature and my truck jerked as mentioned above. Actually bought the unit and it didn't have the tire size feature and the latest update. Went to install the latest update and I needed to by a serial port to USB cable ($25.00) and downloaded the installer as stated in their instructions and I ended up with a tuner that was useless (missing application)!!!! My advice, don't bother. I gave it two chances to impress me and was let down both times.

 

Bob very nice post links,the facts bring up many answers. People will advertise what ever it take to sell something I had many a few calls to this company and they were very quick to tell me what I wanted to hear not facts. Yes any after market thing can cause issues. But with you and quad you call and you have an answer thats real. Never been told wrong yet?And you booth can boost a 99% fixe with out dealer interferance. The other 1%, you can't make everyone happy you know. Just what I see.
