Tailgate shocks

Where can I get the assist shocks for the tailgate so it will drop without the slam.

My wifey is a little wimpy and says its too heavy. I suppose if I didnt make her load a 40lb bag of dog food and 6 bags of 40lb water softener salt she would have the strength to lift the gate back up.

As some relationship gurus put it "the weaker sex".

Take a look at these two, I went with the EZ down.

Works good but sometimes the tailgate support cord? comes out between the gate and the tail light. (heard a crack once but no damage).

I bought both, wasnt sure which one I'd like. I still have the Gateglide in the garage (new) for sale........

I can see why you used the easy down. I might try that one. Thanks for the info.

Also have the EZ down. I don't have an issue with the support strap but I had to 'fine tune' the foam rubber piece so it wouldn't bind with the shock when the tailgate is closed.

I think this is the best thing going for tailgate savers...

It's out of the way, and no gas shocks to wear out. The price is good too!

Hey Mike, I thought your EZ Down was pretty cool when I saw it at HRP last year... but I can't remember if you had it just on 1 side or a pair? Are the kit prices in the links above per pair or for each side?

Just a FYI...the EZ Down doesn't make it any easier to lift the gate. If anything it makes it a tiny bit harder because you also have to compress the shock as you lift and close it.

It works good, but I've been fighting the strap issue for a while. I've tried to fine tune the foam stopper thing but it will still snag and bind occasionally.

Hey Mike,
Only one per kit and it mounts on the driver side. One is all that is needed for the tailgate.

I picked mine up at Camping World when it was on sale for about $45.

I have the easylift that Eric mentioned. It works great, one hand up or down, only about 5 lbs, less than a gallon of milk. A two man job to install but not too difficult.
