Surprised At Mpg On Short Trip!
well after towing my 5,000 lb. trailer around the city 5 days a week since i have bought the truck and only seeing between 12.2 and 13.0 mpg hand calculated, it was a nice surprise to get 18.9 mpg after taking a short 260 mile trip today running empty between 60-70 mph 80% hwy.
much better than my old 6.0h no powerstoke pos. makes me love my cummins that much more. just thought i would share.

I get over 20 pretty much anyway I drive. I'm on pace to get about 725-750 miles out of my current tank, which holds 35 gallons. I don't know exactly how much was in it but I reset the overhead before I pulled away from the pump. Kind of hard to compare my 03 to your 06 though IMO.

both odometers were reset, the one on the overhead and on the dash.....both read the same miles traveled so far. It's simple math on a calculator....34 or 35 gallons divided by whatever the total....21.4-22ish roughly. My overhead read 20.9 mpg before shutdown tonight. I probably will not let the DTE get dow too low, I don't like running near empty.
