Marco you are right I own the 3805 and personally have no problem burrying my pyro gauge at 1500 degrees so what hes saying is true on my truck..
I do like my superchips but I am getting egt's way up above where I am comfortable.

This is a ridiculus claim unless the truck had other power adders that Superchips strickly tells you not to use with their product. Superchips is for a stock truck only! With the exception of intake/exhaust mods. The Superchip programmer adds less than 5% pressure at low RPM and non a WOT, So what is this pressure problem. In Superchips forum they even state the a pressure box is probably the only thing that will play nice with their program because they added almost no pressure to the stock program.

Not one claim can I find anywhere on the web that Superchips causes a truck to run high pyro temps. Out of the thousands of people who post on the forums every day, not one.

But MARCO says the programmer will make your truck run so hot that you will destroy your turbo and engine. This is assumed at even a brief time at 1700 degrees. And then there is some mystery pressure problem that he did not elaborate on.

If you took the programmer and put it on a highly modified truck you would probably see high temps and the pressure could be high or low depending on the fuel pressure system installed. Superchips is not designed to work on anything other than a stock truck. If that is what MARCO did then he is being disengenous by not disclosing that. That is why when you register your Superchips Flashpaq you have to disclose all of your current mods and any mods you plan to do in the future.
Whoa! there Tom, you are making some really big assumptions there that Marco NEVER commented to. Read carefully what he said....

Carefull! That's not what I've seen in the real world. With the truck empty on a level road I've seen EGT's above 1700°! I would also suggest you keep an CLOSE eye on the rail pressure with the SC....
He simply states that he has seen egts higher than 1700 on a level road and that you should keep an eye out on the rail pressure.

Seeing high EGT spikes is again not uncommon for any of the fuel enhancing products. I see high temps on my 12 valve at WOT on flat ground, that doesn't mean it I run it that way long enough to hurt it.

You need to relax, nobody is knocking your favorite product, they are simply telling you that you should invest in gauges and believe your own eyes more than what a salesman will tell you.

MARCO, Are you running the extreme program that was offered for only a short time and now has been disabled? Superchips swears that they don't play with the rail pressure.

As to the claims you refer to. I don't think that Superchips should allow their boxes and advertising to say those things but it is a generic claim that applies to their entire product line and not necessarily the product you are buying. In other words they have a standard box for all of their products. The only difference between one box and another is a sticker on the top that identifies whats inside. My box refers to gas and diesel engines on the box. If this was for a chevy truck with a 5.3l engine I would probably be able to change all of those things.

Superchips is trying though, and they come out with new updates all the time. Heck, we now can all get data acquisition for free now on the flashpaq.
And Superchips make it easy to return the flashpaq to stock and you can sell it and get something better when you are ready.

Also, Marcos if you are concerned about too much rail pressure could you please tell me what too much is. I run this programmer and I don't want to hurt my truck either. How much is the stock limit and what is safe to run above that?

I'm knocking his favorite POS product! They use false advertising. People (myself included) buy their product w/ expectations, then find out it doesn't work as they claim.

Larry please let me explain how I read this.

MARCOS Quote: Carefull! That's not what I've seen in the real world. With the truck empty on a level road I've seen EGT's above 1700°! I would also suggest you keep an CLOSE eye on the rail pressure with the SC....

Not what I see in the real world.

The real world comment sounds like he is referencing more than just his own vehicle and this is very common that a stock truck with nothing more than the Superchips programmer.

Empty truck on flat ground I've seen EGT's above 1700 degrees.

He doesn't say while doing the quarter mile or during a drag race. So I have to assume that he is tooling down the freeway at some normal speed on an average temperature day. Can I assume that at 1700 degrees you are hurting your turbo/engine? Can I also assume that if I have those temps with no load that if I start going up a steep incline or try to pass someone that my temps are going to go quite a bit higher than 1700 degrees? 1900-2100?
At what point does the Turbo or engine fail?

The real question I have is if Superchips says they don't increase pressure except a tiny bit right off idle, then why is MARCOS rail pressure so high. I don't care who is right I just want to know as a user of the Superchips product what the truth is. I will gladly remove something from my vehicle that will cause it harm.

I have the superchips 3805 on my 2006 and love it. Nice cool temps on the highest setting and tons of usable power. The 3805 makes the juice on my 05 seem very flat esp. above 2200rpm on 5/5. I can get to 1400 degrees but i have to stand on it to do it. I would recomend it to anyone . The comment about seeing 1700 degrees with the 3805 makes me laugh . Well more of a belly chuckle.....

well goodness gentleman. if i knew my 1400 degree comment was going to get everyone riled up i would not have said anything. i got my information from Ron at superchips. yes they have given some false info on their product as they use the box for everything else, but they are trying to make it right. my pre-turbo pyro has never gone above 1400...i have never done any sled pulls or anything like that though. Marco...i really like the smarty, so i respect your comments, but they are the complete oppsite from what the manufacturer says. so for anyone else that has questions why not go straight to the horses mouth.

hes a really nice guy that doesnt mind taking some time to explain their products to ya. also i dont have a RP gauge but he told me there was very little raising of the rail pressure.

Conditions,
Sea level, Air temp in the low 80's, level road, empty '06 stock truck ( that means stock EVERYTHING except for gauges and a lot of other test eqipment I don't care to mention), SC with latest download, no other power adders. WOT, the EGT's climb above 1700° before 80Mph. Test repeated several times.

It is NOT uncommon to see those temps with power adders on the CR engine no doubt. Yet it is missleading at best ( I'm using a kind word here ) to tell the customers that 1400° is max. It is also missleading to say that they add "little rail pressure". Stock it's 23K Psi, they go well beyond that point.

Until a few days ago their WEB SITE ( not only the box ) advertised the Cummins 3805 Flashpaq as capable to Increase the Rev and Speed limiters ( among other stuff also not true). I've just checked it out, they have now changed this.
At least....

MY Truck- 05 2500 4x4 crew
mods- Flashpaq-Airaid filter-MBRP 4"
I can bury my isspro 1500. within 6-8 seconds. Done it several times. And after I let off, it takes a couple seconds to start dropping so it's gotta be up around 1600-1700, who Knows? I like the programmer , gives good power from top to bottom, but mine still cuts out at ~108mph. Don't really know about the shift points. Not trying to falsify or validate anyone's claims, just stating my experience. Maybe others with SC will chime in?

I installed the SC in my 05, hooked up my 44' enclosed goose, drove from Miami FL to Hampton NH. Trailer weighs (empty) 12,000#. I have it set to performance/tow mode. I don't have gauges, but just normal highway driving 60-65mph (70 down a hill) - running 1900-2200 RPM. I noted increased HP and ability to accelerate onto interstate. Can't comment on other more high performance or racing/pulling uses. Not everyone has the same use for these things - I just wanted a bit more HP to help with the trailer, and it seems to have been a good purchase. SC customer service was helpful when I had a screen failure probelm as I was trying the initial install - I plan to purchase a 4" stainless exhaust and change out the air intake, and for my uses the SC should work fine, as advertised. As an aside, several weeks ago I posted on this board in this forum asking for guideance from all of you experienced folks about your suggestions on chips and other upgrades - guess no one felt like pitching in then with an opinion, as I got ZERO replies, so I sniffed around all of the posts and made my own decision for the SC and so far, I am pleased. I'll head back down to flatland Miami on Monday. My fuel economy is about 11-12 MPG with 22K on the engine and the SC, hauling the trailer.

MARCO thanks for finally adding some more info. Are you guys sure that your pyros are accurate. You didn't cut the cable that came with the gauges did you, they have to be an exact length since the pyro operates off of the total resistance of the cable and probe. I am sure you probably already know this so I am not trying to be condesending but others may not know.

So I guess what I want to know is what is the safe maximum pyro temp? and for how long?

I thought 1600 was the absolute maximum you would even want to briefly hit.

Also could you tell me what the maximum rail pressure you saw and was it through the whole rpm band? If you are going to run a pressure box what is considered a relatively safe level to increase pressure to?

I tow with my superchips on performance every day and can tell you it will bury the 1500 needle. Also raced a friend with crazy larry and nosed him out. It is quite a runner considering the hp claim but wot will heat you up a bit.

wish I would have waited for the smarty, want more already

The SCT is my favorite tuner. I never get above 1450 and I have 3 different egt gauges located front, middle and back of manifold. I do have a few mods though. However, the 1450 temp that I hit once n awhile is with w/meth off. I rarely use it.
I like how the power of the sct comes on vs some of the others (tuners)that constantly bark my turbo when the tc locks up.

It also stacks nicely, but limited.

I think the sct has worked nicley for me, but, I believe that all conditions have to be considered. I'm a daily driver and do not tow, I have a few mods, I run almost stock size tires etc. etc.

I do not like the way the bddl runs on my truck, I will take the SCT hands down.
