Superchip for 2006
Keep us updated, I am desperate for a decent programmer that removes or raises the speed limiter and modifies shift points. Superchips has awesome products for the gassers I've had in the past, hopefully their diesel stuff is good too. Hopefully we won't have to use premium diesel
Interesting about Superchips being awesome for the gassers.I have in the past few weeks inquired(to numerous persons in the so called know) about Superchips and Hypertech for my gasser. The race/performance shops and guys building muscle late models told me not to waste my money.Said only raise timing a few degrees and shift points ONLY raised on the HIGH RPM end.Said to get a custom program or if buying a downloader like super chips that maybe its worth a $100 bucks but otherwise a waste of money for what you get in return.I've never used one but WAS ready to purchase."They"changed my mind.I think if I do anything on my gasser I'll get a custom program and on my diesel will stick with the BOX manufactures.
Well, The experience I have is only on 2 powerstroke 6.0s, 1 supercharged '02 Harley F150/ and 2 '02 F150 lightnings. None of these naturally asperated engines so I can't comment on most applications. I was very impressed w/these (2 programmers/2 modified plug in chips). Who else is making a plug/play shifting modifier/top speed eliminator???
I used to have a 2000 Ford 7.3 before this bad boy and I had a Superchip Tuner on it. Improved shifting immensly and power was very strong. Probably not as strong as some of the others but still impressive enough for me. Mileage was up about 1.5 mpg. Oh yeah, my dad still has a '01 7.3 (120,000 miles) with the tuner and runs great. Superchips makes safe and reliable products in my opinion. I'm just hoping they come with one for the '04.5.
You can't compare a gasser program to a diesel one. You just plain can't get more than a few hp/tq on a normally aspirated gasser from just ecm programming. You can't cram more fuel in to get more power like a diesel.

Hi Mark,
Quick question for ya
When they state in their ad, "Enhanced Shift Firmness", do you know if it means higher line pressure through changes to voltage to the step motor that replaced the throttle cable on '05's?
Thx

Question:
Why would they not put their hp numbers on their website? With real results?
I agree being able to modify tire size is a great feature but what about egt's on an "otherwise unmodified truck"? I smell something burning!
And what about the infamous fingerprint of downloaders?

Here are some numbers for the Superchip in 2500 CTD 6 spd....
The performance tune (not for towing) made an increase of 137.9 hp @ 2600 rpm's and 282.8 ft lbs of torque @ 1900 rpm's at the rear wheels! The auto trans vehicles also are having tunes on the trans as well.
So far this is what I can tell. I have also asked if the gear selector on column has to be left in normal OD ON mode with tow and performance chosen in programmer.....or does putting it on performance and then selecting those two settings make appropriate changes automatically.
The EGT's were lowered temp's over stock when towing with the towing program (not performance program). No word on EGTs with performance program running though.
I will let you know what I find out...

I loaded one up this evening.I have a drop-in air raid(K&N),a Flo-Pro 4" straight trhough muffler, and no cat.It is on the "performance" setting.Supposed to make 114hp,and it makes ALOT!!!My buddy has a powerstroke rigged similar to my truck, its an 06 1 ton 4x4 auto,4" straight exhaust, cold air intake, superchip 150hp program.I lagged it out of the hole in 4hi,and ate him up.I watched him all the way to 85mph,and he only got smaller in my rear view.We then tried em from about a 40mph roll.Same story,he never made a move on me.Even in 2nd gear which is usually where everything passes me,he couldn't make any ground. If daily drivability is not harmed, which it seems fine,I will be VERY pleased.Mine doesn't even smoke as bad as the Ford.It does smoke,no doubt, but not real bad.I'll post more after I finish my trial weekend, but as of now,I'm payin the man Monday with a smile.Oh,and I haven't got my gauges yet,so towing performance, and exhaust temps will have to come later.
