Subwoofers

I have decided that the infinity system in my truck just isn't cutting it and I am planing on upgrading. My first question is, has anyone used a MTX Thunderform sub box, if so how does it sound? And second, does anyone know off the top of their head what size the speakers are in the front and rear doors, I only wish to dismantle them once. Thanks for any input.

6X9 in front, most 6.5's will fit the rear.

I'm using the Q-Logic box which has room for a single 10" which so far has been plenty. I use a 10 Infinity aluminum cone(forgot the model name) and the subwoofer if great, but the box really needs a little thicker baffle baord or more reinforcement as it tens to trasmit the excess energy through the baffle due to it not being stout enough. I'll figure something out.

I use 6.5" CTD(yellow ones...the best speaker) in the front, and 5.5" CTD(red ones) inthe rear along with an Audison 5 channel amp.

All of this is amazing sound, but the week link is the Q-Logic box. Don't know about the one you mentioned, but I had considered it too and decided that one GOOD 10" would be more than enough bass for a Ram QC.

Next, I will spring for the $400 or so to have a custom fiberglass box built.

Good luck.

I know that JL audio also makes a custom box.

furthermore, put 6.5's up front and 5.25's in the rear. I don't know who thinks there 6.5's in the rear but that's no good.

IMO, two subs sound better than one. or, two subs with moderate power sounds better than one sub with gobs of power.

you will, however, have to remove the metal floor system...booo.

I'm gettting a system put in tomorrow morning and having them run the rca cable back there if I want a sub, but holding off the see if it's worth the money and loss of metal racks.

Did you build the box, or just decide which speakers you were going to use? Either way you have a real clean install. One question though, I have heard alot of guys who complain that they can't get the sound system to sound clear, is that true or are these people just making excuses for their lousey system?

I've got a JL 10W6 in the center seat and plan to add the other one under drivers side rear seat...I do wonder if my 500/1 will power both well enough?
JL 5-1/4" in the rear doors and MB Quart 6.5's in the front
The fills are running off of two MTX amps.

scotty have any pics of the speaker under the middle seat?
Why did you go there instead of the two across the back seat?
Any regrets?

I have pix somewhere but its quite simple. The bottom of the center seat is now a sub box and the console/armrest is attached to it. I also had a slot built in the front of it for the CB...I had a heck of a time trying to find a spot for the Cobra radio and this worked out good. I may put a cover on it at some point.

I wanted my rear fold flat floor intact so I went this route. I now see that I can make my own enclosure for a single sub and Maybe...just maybe keep that fold flat side. Sure hope so but its not a big deal to lose the smaller portion of that feature.

The center seat sub sounds REAL good and I agree with others...having two subs is better. I am told the 500/1 will run the two dual voice coil subs, I guess I need to find out for myself. The center seat sub fires down at the floor.

sounds pretty slick. if you can I'd love to see some detailed pictures of that setup. good idea putting the cb on the front of the box.

if you do take pictures I would really like to see how the center console is attached to the sub.

The lower sub box is attached to the factory mounting points for the center seat. The console/arm rest is attached to the sub box with screws...on either side where it would bolt onto the factory seat.

I will be digging through some pix over the holidays and will post asap.

Scotty
p.s. the center seat is no longer a seat in this configuration.

Here is my dillema.

I have a kenwood dvd player in dash, and its processing unit in the comparment under the center seat. I am looking to get a subwoofer, and a nice set of 6.5" and 5.25" component speakers for the rear. I am leaning towards the JL stealth single 10". Its expensive, but I've had good luck with their stuff in the past.

I am hoping to be able to mount one amp under the pass. seat, and one under that processing unit under the middle seat (that plastic cup was cut out, so there is plenty of cooling), I'll be able to still use the 60% of my rear floor space, while the 40% hides the sub underneith... I hope this can work for me.

I fit 1 amp for the mids and highs along with my dvd processor under my passenger seat and fit 1 amp for the subs along with a stiffing cap under the drivers seat. I'll try to take some pics and put them in my gallery.
